Why is it that Football has improved in so many ways with running ability, fitness but the most simplest skill in kicking the football has not? Watching some of the goal kicking on the weekend (especially Adam Hunter) and past weekends (Mathew Pavlich) it brings the question “Why cant they kick?”
The season is fast becoming over with only the 7 top teams capable of playing descent football who all won and no other teams looking likley.

Goodes did not kiss his Brownlow chances goodbye after a reckless bump
Geelong defeated Kangaroos by 13 points
Kangaroos were brave but brave is not good enough when you play Geelong. C Mooney turned it on against his old side with 7 goals and Gary Ablett jnr will ensure that the talk about whos better between Ablett and Franklin will continue.
Kangaroos really need to look at their side and I would suggest they rebuild as their best players are well over 30.
Adelaide defeated Richmond by 50 points
Trent Cotchin stared for two quarters and showed why he was highly rated in last years draft. However Richmond while have been promising this year, lack the ability to win games they should. Adelaide however have put behind them two bad weeks and have played solid football. Jericho was super and will help Tippet and Burton and the Crows to kick enough goals to match against Geelong and the Hawks.
Sydney defeated West Coast by 5 points
The old saying about how Football is a game of inches is so true. Had Adam Hunter kicked straight or tackled a few inches lower, they would have won. Then you have Brent Staker who looked like he kicked a goal over the goal line in the third quarter.
Sydney though where good to come back and you cannot buy experience and winning games like this help set up the season. Swans will probably loose Goodes for a week but will gain Barry Hall.
Hawthorn defeated Essendon by 51 points
How good was Buddy? Some say that Paddy Ryder was one player that could match up on him well and he still kicked 9. Essendon was brave for 1/2 a game but you have to play four quarters (just ask Fremantle) to be a good side.
Hodge is showing just why he was number one in the 2001 draft after getting over his leg problems. Loosing Sewell could be a problem as he provides a lot in the middle. Can Hawthorn continue to have Boyle, Buddy, Roughead and Williams in the same forward line? I expect them too loose at least Boyle or Williams.
Brisbane defeated Fremantle 22 points
Fremantle had one win this weekend and that was that they did not lead at 3/4 time and loose the game
The problem is still the same by winning three of the four quarters yet still loose the game. I have heard several fixes which goes along the lines of:
- Delist everyone from age 27 onwards.
- Swap Pavlich for draft picks.
- Sack the admin.
Personally I think a mixture of delistings or trading everyone past 27 is the way to go except Pavlich and get rid of the admin. Do what Brisbane did in the 90s by starting over again.

Carlton showed something they have not had for years. Courage and the ability to win
Western Bulldogs defeated St Kilda by 27 points
St Kilda are SOFT! They are USELESS and have something wrong between their heads. Grant Thomas was not able to fix it, neither was Stan Alves or Blight and Ross Lyon is failing. Along with Fremantle they have many passengers and unfit over paid stars in Kozi, Ball, Hayes, Gram etc. They have a culture problem and need to rebuild (ie: tank the rest of the year).
Bulldogs on the other hand are yapping very well at the moment and what is best for them is that yester-years stars (Johhno and West) are not the best in todays team which means they will be a contender.
Carlton defeated Port Adelaide by 12 points
Port Adelaide are unfit and it shows with last quarter fade outs (West Coast and Brisbane etc) and I wonder whether they just thought they had to turn out this year to play finals again. Their forward line is egematic and their tall forward players are too inconstant. I would recommend they swap their draft picks and chase Pavlich.
Carlton whether its Judd or Ratten coming home have turned around their last 7 odd years of bad football and won after being 38 points down during three quarter time. Judd showed his pace is back and Kreauzer showed just why Carlton tanked last year.
Collingwood defeated Melbourne by 21 points
Melbourne showed real ticker today but with some bad misses in the 3rd quarter by Silva, Yze and Green it meant they were behind at 3/4 time and that was always going to be too much for them. It was good to see just under 60, 000 people which will mean Melbourne will probably keep the Queens Birthday match.

How can Goodes get off? He has a record (reported 3 times in last two years) yet he gets off again.
He did not even go for the ball. Waters and Burton at least went for the ball but yet still both got two weeks.

Yeah that Goodes decision was awful.
I’d disagree with your opinion of Ball and Hayes. Both are coming of serious injuries with ball especially being crippled due to OP. Lenny’s coming back from an ACL so will take a bit of time.
But Kosi, Gram, Milne, Fiora need to find a mirror and half a long hard look at themselves.

Probably the worst decision I have seen in a while.
Adam Goodes is a more protected species than the Kangaroo or Emu, and they’re on our national emblem!

@Gaz - BUT even before their injuries I did not rate them. They do not kick goals, they struggle one on one and their disposal is nothing to write home about. I do think ST Kilda should have rested Ball instead of playing him. Hayes is suppose to be a leader of the club but when has he really took a game by the neck and turned it around for his side? At least Kozi and Milne has.
I think its obvious that everyone was surprised by the decision on Goodes getting off, even Roos was, his own coach
Thanks for your comments Gaz and look forward to seeing you back again
