King hits, huge come backs, big scores, injuries, loosing streaks broken and some tribunal bans to be expected are just some of the news of the rounds wrap up. Instead of making this round 4 wrap up all about Barry Halls cowardly king hit on Brent Staker we have a separate post.
Western Bulldogs defeated Essendon by 30 points
The Bulldogs were awesome on Friday again defying the odds and winning. What ever has happened over the off season really worked wonders as they are great at the moment. Essendon hit the front and looked likely to run over the top but the Bulldogs have found some grit and mental toughness.
Essendon have launched an inquiry into their soft tissue injuries and are blamming the problem on six day breaks etc but lets look at the clubs who have a HUGE history of soft tissue injuries (ST Kilda and Essendon), now which ground do they play 90% of the time at? Problem solved!

St Kilda were very solid against Geelong but its safe to say that Geelong are a league above anyone else bar maybe Hawthorn. St Kilda again struggled with their forward set up, every other club has resisted to play 3 tall players except St Kilda. Surely the coach can see this…
Geelong have a few tribunal problems with Gamble’s punch on Del Santos chin, Cam Mooneys ‘trip’ and Wests shepherd on Clarke. Maybe this will be the crack in their armour…
Kangaroos defeated Melbourne by 48 points
Melbourne tried hard but whats their game plan? Do they understand the game, do they have any real leaders? In the first half they had no ’sweeper’ at the ruck contests and three or four times the Kangaroos scored. Melbourne is in need of a leader, Neitz is a forward and leads by example but a football thinker who puts a ’sweeper’ in was needed.
Sydney defeated West Coast by 62 points
Was their actually a game played? Yes and Sydney were very very good and the Eagles were very very disappointing. Apart from Ben McKinley and Matt Rosa the rest were average and after being one of the faster sides now must be one of the slowest.
O’Loughlin is in good form which he needs to be as he is now Sydney’s main man after Barry Halls king hit and breaking his wrist. Sydney are well placed and it will be a real test to them on how they handle no Hall for a while.
Brisbane defeated Port Adelaide by 20 points
Seeing the scores at 3/4 time you would have thought “Oh Port have won this game”, 20 odd minutes later Brisbane have won with a 9 goal last quarter. Port has the same side as last years Grand Final, so what has happened? They should be better after over achieving last year, apparently..
Brisbane were amazing, while wins like this are great, it leaves the question “What happened for the first 3/4 quarters?”. Bradshaw and Brown kicked 9 together and it shows that 2 big forwards is better than 3.

Hawthorn just keep on winning and its now obvious (if you still doubt them) that they are the real deal, they not only win but they win in style against every side they play against. Buddy is a 100 goals a year player and that will help ensure they remain a top two team.
Carlton defeated Collingwood by 23 points
Carlton have defied history and won against their enemies Collingwood on the back of Fevs 7 goals who could also kick 100 goals this year. It would be good to see some players kick over 100 goals again, last time we saw it was quite a few years ago.
Richmond defeated Fremantle by 64 points
WOW!!! Not many tipped Richmond to win, let alone by over 10 goals. The move to play Richardson on the wing and then float down forward payed off and the forward line looked dangerous with Morton, Brown and co in some form.
You know something is wrong at a club when they start having a go at each other. In the 2nd quarter someone went for goal and did not pass to a team mate, he missed and then copped a verbal spray from their captain. What is going on over at Fremantle? They were tipped to be a top four side and were a $1.12 to beat last years wooden spoon and yet get flogged at home were Richmond has struggled to be competive at.

In all reports about the Fremantle v Richmond game, the fans were actually NOT booing the players but actually the umpires. Interesting as all the media talk this week about Fremantle has been the booing of the players.
