@jerm you are not being to harsh on skipper, the guy was drafted in 2000!! that's close to a decade on a senior list and only 45 games to show for it. i can't believe he has lasted this long.

on a different note is it about time that we made the Umpires more accountable for their performances? Everyone from players to assistant coaches, coaches, presidents even the media themselves are made to be held accountable for almost every decision they make yet you cannot even mention these blokes names in a press conference without ending up lighter in the pocket, i know that gieschen represents the umps and has come out and said the riewoldt dive was a free kick but what about the 10 other howlers that they contributed on friday night. Surely someone has the right to ask why Ryan Hargrave had holding the ball paid against him when he kicked the ball 15 metres up the ground?? these blokes get paid to make big decisions that influence big games of football and more often then not do a great job(jack anthony free) but they are human and do get things wrong i just think its about time that they were made accountable...

@jerm-pickering??do you mean picken lol

@Bob - Am I being too hard on Skipper? I would not think so but each to their own. I doubt he would get picked up by anyone else. Agree he is a better mark than Minson (bad mark) but Minson rucks better.

Also I doubt you would drop off to quick, the guys you mentioned before in Ward, Pickering & Higgins are all under 22 and even players like Griffen & Conney are below 25 and should only improve.

@Deano - Interesting idea to put Lake forward, think their are more promising defenders (ie: Spangher) than KPP forwards.

@Jermayn- I think you are being a bit hard on Skipper- he has played 1 game in the past 2 years, if he asks to be traded i really wouldn't blame him. He can take a mark and is a good kick- something I believe Minson can't say.

@Deano- there are lots of reasons why we lost on Friday, some were in our control. The main one was our kicking for goal- for some reason this has been an issue this year, not sure why, lack of confidence maybe?

There will be lots of possible drafts pick ups, I wouldn't be in too much hurry to recruit ready made players- a lot of them will have injury concerns and I'd prefer to have a downer year and develop some players than try and win a flag followed by 4-5 years at the bottom. Look at Adelaide, WCE and Brisbane- neither did anything special in the draft and have the best young talent going.

spot on bob, its guys like Reid, Ward and Picken that will carry this team forward i can excuse gia given he was coming off a knee but the other 3 blokes continue to disappoint.

If we are looking for big blokes who can take a pack grab then we have one sitting at fullback, he was a full forward as a junior and took the second most marks this year and was the only defender in the top 20 for contested marks. perhaps we look at getting a solid defender like Matt Maguire(has a lot to prove) keep Williams and Morris down back and trial Lake up forward for a whole game.

@Bob-there were reasons beyond our control why we lost that game on friday

@Bob - Thanks for your comments and I hope you enjoy your stay hear and we hear back from you again.

Skipper has been given enough chance imo, Everitt is too small to be a KPP but Cordy, Roughead and Grant should be given more of a chance especially Grant who next year will have 2 or 3 pre seasons in him.

Person who suffer most from this unfortunately will be Riewaldt- every time he gets a free umpires will cop it from the fans. The umps should know better than to shoot off the big mouths to the players- telegraphing their decisions not very smart. Make your decision on what you see.

Its no good getting a new forward unless they can play according to the style of the team. Personally I feel we have plenty of tall talent in the reserves- Skipper, Everitt, Roughead, Grant are all very big and lots of talent. We just need to give them a go.

its interesting who didn't perform when the pressure was really on Hill, Minson, Gia, Eagleton are all good players- but look at their stats in the five games against Geel and St K this year. Unless we can learn to beat these two teams we can never hope to win a flag. I'd put them in the Farren Ray category- very good players but you can only afford to one or two in your team.

Wow respect indeed for someone to play through that...

@Deano - yes you do not always only need one person to kick the goals but the point I was trying to make was that none of the forwards looked capable to kick enough (on their own or together) goals for a winning score.
