2009 AFL Round Eleven Tips

Posted on 04 June 2009 by

It looks as if we do things a bit backwards at Kick 2 Kick. The Dream Team ‘expert’ is struggling at the bottom end of the ladder and tipping well, whilst the tipping ‘expert’ sits at the bottom of the tipping ladder and is Dream Teaming well.

I’m gonna use the old Mark Waugh excuse that I am tipping well but am just not getting any winners.

Richmond vs Bulldogs

Do not be fooled by the sentiment surrounding Wallace’s farewell from Punt Road.   There will be about a dozen blokes wearing Red,White and Blue who will be champing at the bit to make sure that ‘Plough’ goes out with a loss against his name.

I thought the Cats were the only team who could put an opposition side away by halftime but the Dogs did it on the back of 13 unanswered goals against a team in red-hot form last week, awesome.

Jack Watts makes his anticipated debut this week.

North Melbourne vs St Kilda

In any other year this is the type of game where the Kangas would surprise everyone and knock off the undefeated Saints.   Not this year though, the Saints have been in indifferent form over the last fortnight and are ripe for the picking but North don’t have enough firepower to break through the Saints’ choking defence.

Saints by 37 points

Brisbane vs Carlton

Should be the most intriguing match of the round.  The Blues and Fevola have  found some form whilst the Lions sit inside the top 4 despite a growing casualty list.  I’m going for the Lions in a close one.

Lions by 9 points

Port Power vs Fremantle

You would have as much chance of tipping next year’s Melbourne Cup winner as you would in tipping correctly in this one. Both have been brilliant and brilliantly stupid. Power purely based on venue.

Power by 12 points

Essendon vs Adelaide

Is it time to look at the training/ fitness schedule at Windy Hill??  Another week goes by and another tall goes down. Are they putting to much responsibility on lightly framed bodies that are not up to it yet?

Is Etihad to blame?   Who knows, all I know is that the Crows are in red hot form and should account for the depleted Bombers.

Crows by 32 points Paddy Ryder to do a knee….just kidding

Hawthorn vs Sydney

I have checked and re-checked and yes the game is at the MCG where the Hawks play superbly and the Swans play terribly.  No more needs to be said.

Hawks by 47 points

West Coast vs Geelong

Another game that the Cats should have stitched up by halfway through the second quarter.   I hope that the attendants at Subi have the Geelong coaches box filled with some beautiful Salad Sanga’s ‘cos ‘Bomber’ will have his feet up very early in this one.   Joel Selwood is making massive strides towards ‘stealing’ another Brownlow off little Gaz.

Cats by 79 points

Melbourne vs Collingwood

I am so glad that I don’t work Monday’s as I will be witness to one of the most highly anticipated debuts of all time.  The Messiah will grace the hallowed turf for the first time and I hope he shows all of the attributes that made him such a standout No;1 draft pick.  The result will be almost inconsequential but I think that the Pies will continue their sparkling form.. Not a bad player that Dane Swan either…

Collingwood win

and Deano, the wifes/ partners are doing good at both Dream Team and Tipping :D

Interesting that the Eagles did not bring in Nit Nat for the Geelong game, probably wise to keep him back but getting him a few games as the season is far from gone would imo be a good idea. Like how Melbourne are bringing Watts in for a game.

btw I think Stevie Johnson would also ‘steal’ a few brownlow votes off Ablett jnr like Selwood.

    Bulldogs
    St Kilda
    Brisbane
    Port
    Essendon
    Hawks
    Geelong
    Collingwood

  2. Martynkai Says:

    Same as Jermayn

    Bulldogs
    ST. Kilda
    Brisbane
    Port
    Essendon
    Hawks
    Geelong
    Collingwood

However it wouldn’t suprise me if Sydney proved me wrong also I think the Eagles are due a win soon but not this week.

  3. deano Says:

interesting you have both gone for the bombers despite their injury woes and the form of the crows?? reasons??

    Jermayn Reply:

At the moment Deano, I do not trust or even rate Adelaide. I have been fooled by them for many years. Craig is not a good coach and even though they have scored over 100 points in the last two games, I cannot see it continueing…

Also yes the Bombers have injury worries but the real only injury lack/ threat is their second ruckman and imo Adelaide’s ruck brigade (Tippett & Maric) has failed to take the next step up like Ryder.

Interesting to see that this is the first of two visits in three weeks for Geelong to Subiaco, I reckon Fremantle may test them in two weeks. Think the Eagles will do better than last year against the Cats as Geelong look thin in the ruck and down back!

However it wouldn’t suprise me if Sydney proved me wrong

To me Sydney are almost a guarantee at home, away and on the MCG which the Hawks play very very well they will be exposed imo.

  4. deano Says:

the mrs has gone for the same as you as well Jerm, whilst you may not rate the crows they have beaten carlton and hawthorn in the last two weeks, that is not easy opposition right there. i think its edwards 300th as well, is that right? should be an interesting one anyways.

    Jermayn Reply:

they have beaten carlton and hawthorn in the last two weeks, that is not easy opposition right there. i think its edwards 300th as well

Yep its his 300th and Adelaide get up for milestone matches (only lost one major milestone in last few years), so you may be onto something hear Deano…

They have beaten Carlton & Hawks at home and even though the Crows have indifferent form at AAMI it still is hard for clubs to go over and play there. Guess only time will tell.

  5. SunCity_Royal Says:

Bulldogs – wouldnt it be good to see Terry Wallaca fail in his last game?
St Kilda – they will win, but i think they are very over-rated
Brisbane – Carlton are ok, but i think Brisbane are coming along nicely
Port – but you never know with freo
Adelaide – but anyone could win here
Hawthorn – but again, the swans are unpredictable
Geelong – but for the first time i think ever…i really hope the Eagles win…yes Jermayn i want the EAGLES to win…i know, a suprise, but i really hate Geelong
Collingwood – easy win, but melbourne are making progress

  6. SunCity_Royal Says:

by the way Deano…leave poor Paddy Ryder alone…i went to school with him, he’s a good bloke lol
