This weeks question is “Are You Happier with Your Teams Score or It’s Value?” I ask this after my team has risen by $1000. Whoopee, but I suppose it’s better than losing a thousand. Is your value helping you to trade for better players? The list above doesn’t necessarily show that form nor does reputation mean a rise in team value.
Also, we’re working on the profile for the “perfect DreamTeam players”. That should be coming later this week.
DREAMTEAM WARS
Round 10 saw a couple of big Derby’s in our league. First up, Jermayns “Germinators” beat Michael’s “Dorkers” by a mere 60 points.
Steve Johnson, Gary Ablett, Daniel Rich & Cyril Rioli were best for Jermayn & assuming Greg Broughton plays, he scors well for the Dockers as a rookie. Jermayn had to be disappointed with Hawk pair Lance Franklin, as were many, & Campbell Brown as well as Lindsay Gilbee on his 150th game. Brown has been disappointing all season for the Hawks.
Michael remains in the eight on a very slight percentage difference with Joel Selwood, David Mundy, Rich, Rioli & Brendan Fevola providing good scores. The late withdrawal of Joel Corey could have been the difference in such a tight contest. As well, Justin Sherman, Tarkyn Lockyer & Andy Otten were down in big wins for their teams.
In the other Derby, Ariana’s “Royal Knights” had it easier over Deano’s “Nambucca Axemen” by 131 points.
The midfield was the noticeable standout with Ablett, Rich, Jimmy Bartel & Chris Judd starring. Andrew Mackie & Bashir Houli also chipped in along with Fevola & Ryan O’Keefe in a losing side. Matthew Scarlett has lost his edge while the returns of Ryan Houlihan & Dale Thomas would’ve helped as well.
Deano’s midfield was also running well with Bartel, Selwood, Rich, Shaun Higgins & Jordan Lewis starring. Mackie, Hamish McInstosh, Nick Riewoldt & Daniel Giansiracusa also played well. Any other week, that scoreline would produce a win.
Johhnytruent’s “Diamond12” also had a close 59 point win over “Arthurs Mongrels”, our league nemesis.
Houli, Lewis, Rich & Rioli starred in what looked to be a slog for Johnny’s stresses, but there were some solid 80’s & 90’s in the midfield & forward line to give him the chocolates.
My “Great Izzacs” never had a chance against the “Mandurah Mob”. Only Fevola, Jude Bolton & Michael Doughty starred this week with a lot of very inconsistent numbers right across the board. List management has not been with me this season as in others so we can hope for some strong finishes for the trades we have to mathematically scrape into the eight.
Next week, there’s another two Derby’s to look forward to. “Germinators” .vs. “Diamond12” should prove entertaining going by last weeks scores while my “Great Izzacs” have to be competitive against Deano’s “Nambucca Axemen”.
In other games, the “Royal Kinghts” take on the “Mandurah Mob” while the “Dorkers” face “Arthurs Mongrels” to stay in the top eight.
Injuries that Dream Teamers need to keep an eye on
The Cats are likely to be without Joel Corey (foot) for a couple of weeks with his plantar fasciitis injury. Tom Harley (hamstring) will miss the 2-3 weeks that most hammys take and keep an eye on Gary Ablett (ankle) who will face a bit of a test after a slight roll of his ankle.
The Dockers will be counting the cost of their loss to the Tigers with Stephen Hill (corked thigh) and Michael Johnson (ankle) looking doubtful, with Des Headland (quad) and Luke McPharlin (ribs) likely to miss a couple. The ‘positive’ out of this is that Hayden Ballantyne should get a run after his 5 goal efford in the WAFL on the weekend. The other big name is Chad Cornes (calf/achilles) who might be rested until after the break.
Whats the go with your Dream Team After Ten Rounds?
Please let us know about the going ons with your Dream team side. Hear are some questions we would love to hear about.
- Are you happy with your team after 10 rounds?
- How many trades you used so far?
- Who you looking to trade?
- Who are you happy with?
- Who was your captain? Did you go with Joel Corey?
- If you traded Higgins are you now kicking yourself?
- Did you get caught out with any late withdraws?

Franklin & Gilbee was a risk for me this week, as Bock plays well on Buddy and Gilbee was carrying an injury. My captain was Ablett and he simply run out of gas in the last 10 minutes of the game and went off with a slight ankle injury…
My round 10 trades of Higgins & Hurn for Broughton & S Johnson was a win for me, I reckon. Yes Higgins got 110 odd but Hurn only got 52 and between S Johnson & Broughton got 250 odd, about 100 more than Higgins & Hurn and I also got another 68k for future ‘upgrades’.
Again my wife is killing it with a 2100+ score, the only one to get that score this week. She is only improving which is scary! Someone beat her

Thinking of maybe trading Corey for Swan, I’m a little unsure about his foot and whether he can get many games…
