This weeks question…is an obvious on this week. Were you duded by the changes to the St Kilda side, by how much & do the rules need to be changed for DreamTeam?? BTW, I wasn’t one of those who got caught out, but am sick & tired of late changes.
Spill your guts about your Dream Team
Please let us know about the going ons with your Dream Team side. Hear are some questions we would love to hear about.
- Are you happy with your team after 18 rounds?
- Are you in the finals? If not tell us what cost you the chance to play in your leagues this year?
- How many trades do you have left?
- Who you looking to trade?
- Who are you happy with?
- How did your captain go?
- Have you traded for any player who turned out to be a dud?
- Tell us about your best pick up for the year.
Dream Team Wars: Finals week 1
It’s finals time & the “upset” finally happened. One assumes “Sheryl’s Saints” was a victim of the “Ain’ts” this weekend.
As a result of her losing, Ariana’s “Royal Knights” now has to face her next week after eliminating “Arthur’s Mongrels” by 175 points.
Heath Shaw & Brendan Fevola were her only ton scorers with only Brendon Goddard the “Ain’t” not playing. Don’t know whether I’d take much confidence into next weekend looking at the numbers.
Jermayn’s “Germinators” earns a week off after beating Deano’s “Nambucca Axemen” by 465 points.
For Jermayn, Shaw, Greg Broughton, Dane Swan, Jason Blake & Alan Didak scored tons & will have Goddard & Paul Chaoman back in two weeks time.
Deano had Joel Selwood as the only ton scorer losing Sam Fisher & Nick Riewoldt to the “Ain’ts”, while Scott Lucas & Jack Grimes went out injured. Plays “Leeming Lightning” next week & wouldn’t want to go out in straight sets.
Johnny’s “diamond12” also earned a week off with a 276 point win over the “Mandurah Mob”. Corey Enright, Bryce Gibbs & Jordan Lewis scored tons. Sam Gilbert the only “Ain’t” on his list.
Michael’s “Dorkers” got a week off as well beating “GoldCoast Clubbers” in a thriller by 60 points. Brian Lake, Broughton, Selwood & Fevola scored tons as he holds his trades to his chest with the likely return of Shaun Higgins soon. Good to see the “Aint’s” didn’t affect the result as both had none.
My “Great Izzacs” play “GoldCoast Clubbers” next week after a 434 point win over “Waikiki Whackers”. Scott Stevens, Brad Johnson, Jason Akermanis, Fevola & Mark LeCras were my ton scorers. Still, a couple to return from injury & with 5 trades left, we’re ready to take aim at “diamonds12” once we chew up the “Clubbers”. So, get ready Johnny.
Good luck to those next week if you’re playing.

So what happens if you loose? Is that it??
- Lost one my league games, so finished 7th in one league and still going in the other two (include Kick2Kick league)
- best pick up would be Broughton.
- 1 trade left which I may use next weekend for an upgrade to try and get another star.
- I had a few missing stars this weekend but should be back and ok next week.

Yep, I’d be out if I lost this week, so every game’s a GF to me now.
But, don’t worry…have trades up my sleeve & a cunning plan.

I hope for your sake the cunning plan works, if it does, maybe a write up explaining what you did could be in order

well done to jerm, his depth absolutely killed me. i needed to get a few back this week but looks though i’ll be out in straight sets as Fraser and Grimes are set to miss again, Lucas and Burgoyne out of form/favour and now a season ender to Roughead. had only 17 scoring players last week with emergencies Rance and Sellar contributing bugger all. plus only one trade left….gooone.
Good news is my supercoach team earned the week off with the highest score of the round (cracked the top 1000 for the weekly rankings 2 weeks ago!!) and my secondary DT despite finishing 7th had a 900+ points victory and was also the top scoring team of the round.

but truthly to be said Deano, you have been ridding your trades and team short all year. I think you have done very well with playing a few short most games but still getting results.
In other DT news, half of the Saints will be back in which could spell danger as my wife (Royal Knights) plays ‘Sheryl’s Saints’ and 3/4 of her team are Saints players.
Hopefully Steve Johnson will be fully fit by next week

yeah Jerm, i think i got a bit lucky at times but both you and i being dream team ‘virgins’ will only hold us in good stead for next year. this year i learnt to stay away from KPP (especially young ones, Grant and Gumbleton on my forward line bench), older players, richmond players and to keep a few trades up my sleeve for the business end. in all happy with my first year though…
August 13th, 2009 at 1:46 pm
I think the only KPP (forward and back) who has continuously got over 90 points would be Nick Riewoldt. Guess it is another thing that has gone the way of the midfielders.
Good points… After the Dream Team season, we may have to add these points in a post of what we learned one year in.
Apart from your points I have also learned:
1) to include players from all clubs, if you just select players from one club and they have a bad game/ form
2) Find midfielders who are listed in the forward line and defense and add them

thats right i made the mistake of putting Higgins in my midfield when i could have used him forward.
i think analysing teams as well, players in good sides like Farren Ray have been outstanding because they do not receive the attention of taggers. So another tip; pick guys knocking on the door of midfields in teams that you think will be strong.

In the days prior to the AFL taking the DT over, you could only have 2 players maximum from each team. That was a challenge.
Best thing is to put what you think good midfielders are into forward/defence if you can.

Only two in a team from every team? Now that would be a REAL challenge!
