2010 Round 2 Dreamteam Wrapup

Posted on 06 April 2010 by

It hasn’t been a very productive week for my Dreamteam this week, but of course we’ve still got another week to tinker with it.

Michael Barlow had a dream debut & followed it up to now be 3rd on the most dreamteam points scored.

Dreamteam Wars Round 2

Let’s turn our attention to our Dreamteam League & see how our coaches are doing in the practice rounds.

Preview of the Geminators

Again, we’ll start with the bosses “Greminators”. Jermayn scored 2.007 this week with 100+ totals to Hodge & Goddard in defence, Barlow, Boyd, Gibbs, Cooney & Armitage in the midfield, Sandilands in the ruck & Riewoldt & Chapman up forward.

Franklin failed first up & Kennelly down back was a surprise considering his numbers last week & many giving him back wraps at his bargain price. Our selectors are watching him closely for round 4. Still, Chapman & now Goddard have me worried if their prices will fall.

Preview of Princess Cats

Ariana’s “Princess Cats” scored 2,029 this week as the premiership favourite tunes up nicely. Ablett, O’Keefe & Higgins were amongst her 9 players scoring 100+ with the big concern for her over Fevola’s form. To be honest, “Fev” has had a shocking 2 games for the Lions.

Ariana is not alone in our league for ruck worries, either, with Dean Cox now looking like it’s suddenly all goen wrong or he’s playing unfit.

Preview of the Nambucca Axemen

Deano’s “Nambucca Axemen” came out & scored 2,078 with Gilbee joining the 100+ party as well as what seems to be home tracker Natanui.

Bulldog Brodie Moles got a surprise run this week whilst Deano would be rabid at Brent Harvey’s performance on Saturday night. The high score was even greater condsidering there weren’t that many 100+ scores.

Preview of the Bulldogz

Mike’s “Bulldogz” scored 1.515 with some of last weeks big players in his team disappointing second up. McPharlin & Betts showed little of their vote catching form last week while another major forward recruit in Bradshaw is also showing us very little.

Preview of the bomber cyborgs

Sean’s “bomber cyborgs” continue to surprise with a score of 2.049. Jonathan Brown joins the 100+ party with 8 players in all cracking the ton. If Sean’s forward line players of Hall & Stevie Johnson decided to click into gear, we should all be worried. But, as it stands, values for those two may soon disappear & Hall plays the unsociable Hawks next week.

Preview of the iTeam

Anthony’s “iTeam” scored a healthy 1.743 whilst playing 2 short. Goodes chimed into Anthony’s 100+ party, but will he hold his value? Trades may have to be made soon to compete with these big guns come round 4.

Preview of half back flanker

Darren’s “half back flanker” topped the list with 2,171. Great back up scores to go with the 100+ scores & Luke Ball has to be a worry for Darren with his price tag. Darren has some handy first year players that hopefully will make up for Ball’s poor form.

Preview of Grey Wet Sydney

Justin’s “Grey Wet Sydney” lived up to its name for the Slipper & he scored 1.626. 6 players scored over 100+ & Justin would be disappointed in the back up scores to those players. The back line especially may need some work.

Preview of Cash For Clunkers

Speaking of disappointing, that’s putting it mildly to my teams performance on the weekend. Playing 4 short, we scrounged up 1,360 with our captain, Travis Boak, scoring the best even before the double score. Boak’s been a good buy at $396,900.

Luke Hodge was also great with 101 at his $366,800 price & Shannon Byrne’s 90 ($375,100) has them both set for trade of need be. Unfortunately, we have other issues filling in gaps before we cash in plus 7 or 8 players aren’t doing the job I expected them to. Hopefully, we snag a couple of bargains after round 3.

Spill your guts about your Dreamteam

So, how do you think your Dreamteam performed on the weekend?? What added features would you like to see in the update?? Would you like to see a combined Dreamteam/Supercoach Medal?? Please, let me know your thoughts & we will be adding in player values after the round 3 price changes.

  • Are you happy with your team after the second round?
  • Who you thing about to trade?
  • Who are you happy with?
  • How did your captain go?
  • Who have you picked that may turn out to be a dud?
  • What position(s) in your side require the most work?

So, how did the league feel about their team first up?? Do you think you’ll need some tinkering, or will you avoid the panic & hold off until after round 3?? Remember, you only have 20 TRADES to play with over the next 20 weeks.

if you are in the Kick2Kick league & would like your dreamteam reviewed after every round, please let us know in the comments below & craig will review it from next round onwards.

Meet craigeyles

Born in Warragul, West Gippsland, Victoria. I’m married with 2 beautiful young girls & a cat (Hirdy). One is at school & the other has autism. I support Essendon but I’m not the one-eyed feral type. Played footy for 1 year in under 15s. Was roped in, actually, as my brother was in the team & they were short of players. Terrible team, mind you. Coach had his sons in the midlfield & they were dreadful. What I do?? Not a lot, unfortunately. Cutting a long story short, illness for 24 years this year (ended footy career) & Johnny’s “workplace” laws forced its hand even more. Love to work, but unfortunately part time is the go these days. Now, spend my time doing community radio sports show on Saturdays & wife suggested I build excel programs on sports leagues & other calculations. Enjoy my “twittering” that I recently discovered.

7 100+ scores and 4 90′s is solid enough for mine. Rapt i had 27 of my squad of 30 playing.

Obvious disappointments have been harvey and kerr, seems i didn’t learn my lesson after having both at some stage last year. Hoping for Moles to stay in the doggies side an give me some more cash later on…pretty happy with where i am at for the moment.

My Captain has been Riewoldt and it wont be changing anytime soon…

    Princess of the cats Reply:

@Deano, did you keep Riewoldt as captain again? What will you do now? He’s in my team as well…

    Deano Reply:

    @Princess of the cats,

i did mate, big, big loss…luckily he scored enough in his first two weeks that his value didn’t drop significantly. Am tossing up between Brown who whilst he has been magnificent so far i don’t think he can keep up that kind of quality all year round and chapman who keeps getting big numbers and always seems to be in the game plus he pushes up into the midfield…

My midfield is the big worry, masten and kerr are not giving me the kind of value i wanted and i need them to perform given i have players like moles, martin and barlow who are proving to be good value but being inexperienced they are capable of poor games too…c’mon eagles lift!!!

  2. Jermayn Says:

I may have to switch captains as I got burnt with Swan & he is playing St Kilda & will probably get C Jones who is a super ‘cling on’. May go Riewoldt or maybe Gibbs…

I got killed this round with poor scores from my lower picks in:
    Kennelly – 59
    Warnock – 23
    Ziebell - 34
    Hitchcock - 43
    Wright - 40

Will need to think about my ruck combo this weekend. Either Leuenberger (Playing PA) or Warnock (Playing Essendon) & maybe the Pods will play this weekend. I want him to get 3-4 games & then use him or Wright/ Hitchcock as cash cows and improve my forward line a bit.

The Kick2Kick league ladder so far looks like:
    1. The Juddanaut
    2. Half Back Flanker
    3. Princess’ Cats
    4. Nambucca Axemen
    5. Germinators
    6. bomber cyborgs
    7. Mopar George
    8. Chardy’s Champs
    9. benditos
    10. Joden Warriors
    11. iTeam Anthony
    12. Bad Boys
    13. Grey Wet Sydney
    14. BullDogz
    15. Cash Or Clunkers
    16. Crimson Sting

  3. craig eyles Says:

Damn, 2nd last on the ladder. Well, it isn’t a sprint & hopefully some things may be fixed by round 4′s league start.
