Kick2Kick League Results & Round 5 Previews

Half Back Flankers 2,031 def Cash For Clunkers 1,630

Darren’s Best: Hodge, Ablett, Barlow, Trengrove, Moles, Sandilands

My Best: Hodge, Griffen, Schneider

Moles was a surprise inclusion & Gumbleton may have shown us what he’s capable of, especially on the big stage. Darren may have been slightly worried with the performance of Brown & may have been more surprised with the scores of others considering the conditions at some grounds this round.

For my team, well, it was looking like a thrilling finish until the results of the Dockers/Tigers players came in & Ablett completely dominated. Brought in Milne as a replacement for Hill, but Milne failed in the conditions. Could be worse with Milne scoring –2 in SuperCoach. Also, was happy with the return to form of Schneider for future weeks.

Germinators 1,875 def Bad Boys 1,485

Jermayn’s Best: Hodge, Malceski, Barlow, Gibbs, Sandilands, Chapman
Steve’s Best: Waters, Milburn, Ablett, Hayes, Trengrove

The magical 2,000 mark seems to have halted after the practice rounds with some good players now bleeding money. Granted, the injury to Boyd didn’t help, but hopefully Goddard, Enright & Swan just had one of those weeks.

Benditos 1,989 def Bulldogz 1,732

Ben’s Best: Hodge, Malceski, Waters, Ablett, Barlow, Gibbs, Kayler-Thompson, Cox, O’Keefe
Mike’s Best: Barlow, Sandilands

Unfortunately, Mike was short of a few 100+ players to really make the score interesting. Bradshaw & “Fev” scored well up forward, Cross & McDonald did well in the midfield, but apart from Grundy, the defence lacked the scoring power for this week. Again, the Boyd injury didn’t help things.

Princess’ Cats 2,082 def Grey Wet Sydney 1,982

Ariana’s Best: Hodge, Waters, Ablett, Bartel, Barlow, Stanton, Sandilands, O’Keefe
Jusitn’s Best: Ablett, Hodge. Barlow. Gibbs, Black

It all came down to just 100 pts in this one & Arianna had 8 100+ players. Dustin Martin had his best game of his short career, Matt Maguire continues to play well, but Brown let her down. In contrast, Franklin defied the conditions in Tassie.

What’s amazing is Justin losing by 100 pts with 3 less 100+ players. And from first glance it looked like the ruck division let him down. Unfortunately, the “Rising Hype” played on the road. The defence did as well as it could. The Princess survives another scare.

The iTeam 1,865 def The Juddanaut 1,840

Anthony’s Best: Waters, Ablett, Barlow, Gibbs, Cox, Chapman
Jason’s Best: Hodge, Carrazzo, Malceski, Ablett, Barlow, Judd, Chapman

What a thrilling upset this was. Anthony had some shear luck with Gumbleton but Boyd was out & Goddard played badly. Hard to fault his line up this week. This was edge of the seat stuff. Justin can thank Jason’s forward line as well for not firing this week.

Nabmbucca Axemen 1,966 def Bomber cyborgs 1,848

Deano’s Best: Gilbee, Malceski, Hodge, Grffen, Barlow, Moles, O’Keefe, Harvey, Giansiracusa
Sean’s Best: Hodge, Waters, Bartel, Barlow

With Deano’s line up of 100+ players, could he be the early premiership favourite?? Having the 2 best Bulldogs on the ground helped out a lot, but did he include Ben Cunnington for his 1st game?? Poor games from Goddard & Enright stopped him cracking the magical 2,000 mark.

Sean did well to get over 1,800 with just 4 players scoring 100+. 4 others scored over 90+ as well. Sean pulled off an early upset last week, but just fell short this week.

Joden Warriors 1,927 def Crimson Sting 1,356

Jodie’s Best: Hodge, Carrazzo, Malceski, Barlow, Stanton, Chapman, Giansiracusa
Tyler’s Best: Hodge, Ablett, Trengrove, Sandilands, Cox

Tyler looks on the improve despite the scoreline. His 1st year players are getting a run & Brown was no good. It still could do woth some tinkering in the midfield. May be one to watch in future rounds at outside odds to cause some upsets.

Round 6 Preview

Cash Or Clunkers ($1.82) .vs. Bad Boys ($1.99)

This is a good, but not great, chance to keep pace with the top 8. If we keep losing, Neil Craig may take over my job as coach. Hopefully, Germayn softened up the opposition in round 5.

Germinators ($2.02) .vs. Half Back Flankers ($1.80)

This 1st .vs. 3rd Derby clash should be a beauty. Is the boss feeling the pressure still of the Riewoldt decision?? Darren’s team is in great form & is itching to claim top spot. Percentages are tight, so a loss could be a good fall for someone.

Bulldogz ($2.24) .vs. Chardy’s Champs ($1.66)

Somebody is going to get their 1st win in this one. Lisa has been unfortunate with her scores so she’ll be looking to take it out on Mike this weekend, but can the Bulldogz bite with an upset win?? That would surely shatter Lisa’s confidence.

Grey Wet Sydney ($1.96) .vs iTeam ($1.86)

Anthony pulled off the season’s upset so far with his win last weekend & Justin had Arianna’s Cats use her 2nd life. It’s hard to see how this one will pan out, so will there be a nervous trade or two made?? The pressure is on early for these two.

The Juddanaut ($1.98) .vs. Princess’ Cats ($1.83)

The punters are fickle & have jumped off Jason’s boys early after starting strong favourite last weekend. On the other hand, they’re giving Arianna another chance after a couple of nervous matches. Can the Princess remain unbeaten??

Bomber cyborgs ($1.29) .vs. Crimson Sting ($3.65)

Sean gets some respite from the top bracket to take on Tyler’s team in what’s looming as another one sided clash. A big win could see Sean sneak into the top 8.

Joden Warriors ($1.95) .vs. Nambucca Axemen ($1.87)

Have the bookmakers been fooled, or is Jodie a serious top 8 contender?? This should be a beauty with Jodie warming up with a big win last week & Deano’s early premiership hopes.

Good luck to all teams this weekend & keep an eye out for the Eliminator if you’re still competing.

Born in Warragul, West Gippsland, Victoria. I’m married with 2 beautiful young girls & a cat (Hirdy). One is at school & the other has autism. I support Essendon but I’m not the one-eyed feral type. Played footy for 1 year in under 15s. Was roped in, actually, as my brother was in the team & they were short of players. Terrible team, mind you. Coach had his sons in the midlfield & they were dreadful. What I do?? Not a lot, unfortunately. Cutting a long story short, illness for 24 years this year (ended footy career) & Johnny’s “workplace” laws forced its hand even more. Love to work, but unfortunately part time is the go these days. Now, spend my time doing community radio sports show on Saturdays & wife suggested I build excel programs on sports leagues & other calculations. Enjoy my “twittering” that I recently discovered.

  1. Deano Says:

Yup, Got stuffed around by a late withdrawal.
Chose Cunnington over McVeigh as I thought Macca would be underdone(on the money)…however Moles would not have been an emergency had i known Hargrave was going to pull out. Cost me about 50 points.

Lost another 60 odd points via a stupid decision. First thing i did last week when making my trades was make Barlow captain as they were playing Richmond…Last thing i did on friday night before i did a final check was make Goddard captain…D’oh.

Steady as she goes this week

    Jermayn Reply:

I brought Reimers in two weeks ago and then she goes and gets injured….
So i’m trading him for Fyfe and Hurn for Waters which will giv me about 300k left over which I can use to upgrade Martin for Ablett next week or something.

    @Germayn
Ya think Fyfe will get more game time?? Dangerfield gne as well fora month. Some teams will be in some trouble up forward.

Every time I attempt to cash up, somebody gets dropped.
