2010 Round 6 Dreamteam Wrapup

Posted on 03 May 2010 by

Have you ever noticed how straight up & accurate DT is compared to SC & Champion Data?? Last week, Champion Data told us that 71% of games are won by teams who win both the contested possession & tackle counts. In reality, it’s more like under 40%.

This is why we play DT.

Paul Chapman has scored the most Dreamteam posts so far this year. Is he in your side?

Kick2Kick League Round 6 Review

Cash Or Clunkers 1,672 def Bad Boys 1,328

My Best:
Steve’s Best:
Hargrave, Hayes

Took full advantage of a lack of Ablett, Mark Seaby going down & not enough players getting games in Steve’s team.

Germinators 1,968 def Half Back Flankers 1,897

Jermayn’s Best: Goddard, Enright, Swan, Barlow, Cooney, Gibbs, Chapman, Podsiadly, Franklin
Darren’s Best: Goddard, Kelly, Grimes, Barlow, Cooney, Hille, Podsiadly, Franklin

A close shave with Jermayn risking playing a midfielder short with the rumour of Boyd coming into the Bulldogs team via the emergency route not materializing. Sandilands & Higgins were also down this week.

Noticing a lot of similarities in both teams & Ablett was the difference for Darren. His forwards were on fire this week & I’d say Germayn would be breathing a sigh of relief after this one. Darren may be minus Hille next week.

Bulldogz 1,938 def Chardy’s Champs 1,829

Mike’s Best: Harbrow, Lake, McDonald, Barlow, Cross, Joel Selwood, Hille
Lisa’s Best: Goddard, Barlow, Watson, Deledio, Podsiadly

Mike pulls off an upset win thanks to the Dogs & Saints playing kick to kick on Friday night. Bradshaw was probably the only forward to really fire this week, but get the feeling Jesse White will get more game time in the middle with Seaby going down for 3 months.

Grey Wet Sydney 1,758 def iTeam 1,748

Justin’s Best: Barlow, Cooney, Gibbs, Podsiadly, Franklin
Anthony’s Best: Goddard, Swan, Barlow, Gibbs, Chapman

This was an absolute thriller with Justin wondering how the heck he won in another upset. The defence was a disaster this week, but the midfield held it’s own & the rucks were steady. Again, no Ablett.

Anthony also had an Ablett problem, but Garland & Cox stood up to lend some support. Boyd was also out so Anthony had to rely on his back ups. A 10 pt loss & Jetta flops this week.

The Juddanaut 1,973 def Princess’ Cats 1,843

Jason’s Best: Goddard, Enright, Barlow, Judd, Chapman, Byrnes, Gray
Ariana’s Best: Goddard, Hargrave, Stanton, Barlow, Podsiadly, Franklin

Ariana rolled the Ablett dice & lost. The bookmakers are once again smiling that the Princess lost another game & it was the defence that let her down this week. Waters & Kennelly were down from their good early season form & Hodge has credits for a bad day.

Bomber cyborgs 1,848 def Crimson Sting 1,370

Sean’s Best: Enright, Goddard, Barlow, Cooney, Joel Selwood, Hille, Johnson, Podsiadly
Tyler’s Best: Deledio

The good news for Sean is the percentage booster. The bad news is that he may be without any ruck stocks this week with Seaby done & Hille answering to the MRP.

Nambucca Axemen 2,037 def Joden Warriors 2,008

Deano’s Best: Gilbee, Enright, Harbrow, Goddard, Barlow, Hille, Giansiracusa
Jodie’s Best: Goddard, Enright, Swan, Stanton, Barlow, Chapman, Giansiracusa, Podsiadly

Deano scrapes in by 29 pts on the back of the Bulldogs playing “kicksies” with the Saints & Jodie’s very early loss of Seaby. Malceski, Griffen, O’Keefe & Murphy played well for Deano. Remains undefeated with some very good luck.

Round 7 Previews

  • Cash For Clunkers ($2.66) .vs. Mopar ($1,48)
    • I’m going to need a lot more than luck with Mopar scoring over 2,000 on average per round. Will a change bring me that luck?? I’m banking on the fact that it’s 3-0 for the team that played the Bad Boys the week before.
  • Germinators ($1.69) .vs. Bulldogz ($2.17)
    • Mike is on an upset roll & is gunning his giant killing sights on the boss’s top of the table team. There may be not a lot in this one with the draw maybe favouring the “Germ” at the moment.
  • Half Back Flanker ($1.77) .vs. Chardy’s Champs ($2.06)
    • With Ablett maybe back this week, Darren will be smarting after being undefeated for the 1st 2 rounds. The Champs have come off an upset loss & the punters don’t like upsets. This should be a good match.
  • Grey Wet Sydney ($2.04) .vs. Bomber cyborgs ($1.79)
    • Justin now has a taste of victory in his nostrils & is gunning for the cyborgs after their leap into the top 8.
  • Princess’ Cats ($1.95) .vs. Nambucca Axemen ($1.87)
    • It’s the premiership contender against the premiership holder & Arianna doesn’t have the pressure of the bookmakers favourite on her side. With an Ablett return & the probabilities of those Bulldogs not so highly, this could be an upset.
  • iTeam ($1.35) .vs. Crimson Sting ($3.22)
    • The iTeam will be watching the Ariana/Deano match closely for this is a percentage booster that could knock Ariana out of the 8.

Good luck to all this weekend & have more fun than the Storm.

Meet craigeyles

Born in Warragul, West Gippsland, Victoria. I’m married with 2 beautiful young girls & a cat (Hirdy). One is at school & the other has autism. I support Essendon but I’m not the one-eyed feral type. Played footy for 1 year in under 15s. Was roped in, actually, as my brother was in the team & they were short of players. Terrible team, mind you. Coach had his sons in the midlfield & they were dreadful. What I do?? Not a lot, unfortunately. Cutting a long story short, illness for 24 years this year (ended footy career) & Johnny’s “workplace” laws forced its hand even more. Love to work, but unfortunately part time is the go these days. Now, spend my time doing community radio sports show on Saturdays & wife suggested I build excel programs on sports leagues & other calculations. Enjoy my “twittering” that I recently discovered.

  1. Deano Says:

    Certainly was lucky!!!

Was 800 clear heading into sunday and thought i was home easily. Chapman comes out and gets a 140 (captain), swan gets a 140, carrazzo pulls off a 95, podsiadly gets a ton…all of a sudden i was in deep you know what. Came down to Ballantyne in the final match. 92 would have seen my opposition win, thankfully for me Hayden only got 60 odd.

Had Harvey as captain which let me down. I’m still lacking one class midfielder…martin, cunnington and moles are good cash earners but i need to upgrade pretty soon.

    Jermayn Reply:

I’m going to upgrade Armatige (St Kilda) for Gary Ablett, which will give me a midfield off Boyd, Cooney, Swan, Barlow & Ablett. That should make make my midfield a walk up start off 600-700 a week.

After that I gotta work on my forward line & just hope Franklin, Chapman, Higgins & iPod keep their 80-90 average.

btw the wives not happy I’m beating her in tips & Dreamteam – lol

  2. Sean Says:

Not happy with seaby going down (blonk) and mckenzie must have pulled out.Boo Hoo. Woud have given seaby the flick soon anyway so no great loss.Got ripped off in the Eliminator, lost by a point. Thanks again Seaby.

Have a few freeloaders in my team that i need to get rid of once i either get sick of them, they go out or they make enough money to flog.

Not having Ablett makes picking a captain a bit dicey so i have to be on my toes there.

    Jermayn Reply:

@Sean – Apparently Ablett is been shoved in front of the leadership team while looking for a new girlfriend at the logies! Maybe he will be dropped..

    Sean Reply:

@Jermayn,Hi Jermayn, yeah i heard about Ablett. Bet you he gets over his “Hamstring” real quick too.

He’s not the Messiah ! He’s just a very naughty boy!

    Jermayn Reply:

@Sean, naughty??? unsure about that, think there was nothing in it.

Either way upgrading him from Armitage and then having some more cash to upgrade Kennelly for Hargrave at an extreme low price my team looks solid in defense and midfield. Now its time to cash cow Rocklift, Wright, Ziebell, iPod etc for another premium in my forward line…

    Sean Reply:

@Jermayn, Yeah, Hargrave is pretty tempting. I tossed up between him or getting Howlett for some cash ect. Went for Howlett.

  3. Jermayn Says:

Hargrave or Harbrow imo were tempting but I went for Hargrave as he was cheaper but also has performed before…
