Posted on 11 May 2010 by

It’s now round 8 & I’m wondering how many teams are reassessing their tactics?? I think my match committee is going to have some meetings over the next few days & the axe may be coming down.

Kick2Kick League Round 7 Review

Mopar 1,991 def Cash Or Clunkers 1,542

My Best:
George’s Best: Goddard, Ablett, Swan, Vince, Sandilands, Pavlich, Johnson, Podsiadly

In reality, the score seemed less than expected, but was never going to match it with Mopar for points leaving George as one of two unbeaten teams.

Germinators 2,129 def BullDogz 1,733

Germayn’s Best: Goddard, Ablett, Swan, Sandilands, Chapman, Higgins, Podsiadly
Mike’s Best: Cross, J. Selwood, Sandilands, Higgins, Betts, Podsiadly

Bradshaw & Fev fail to fire for the BullDogz & the defence was down on points leaving Jermayn unbeaten on top of the ladder.

Half Back Flanker 1,933 drew with Chardy’s Champs 1,933

Darren’s Best: Goddard, Ablett, Sandilands, Higgins, Podsiadly
Lisa’s Best: Goddard, Watson, Giansiracusa, Harvey, Podsiadly

The leagues first draw for the season with Darren having Bower as a late withdrawal probably tipping the two points in Lisa’s favour & Franklin was out on Friday. Brown continues his bad run of form. What a good time for Tippett to hit some good form helping Lisa to her first points of the season.

Grey Wet Sydney 1,957 def Bomber cyborgs 1,858

Justin’s Best: Goodwin, Ablett, Black, Sandilands, Roughead, Podsiadly
Sean’s Best: Goddard, J. Selwood, Higgins, Johnson, Podsiadly

Another upset for the bookies with Justin having 3 players who were arguably best on ground, 2 of them in losing teams. Franklin being out was Justin’s gain.

Nothing seemed to go right for Sean on a quick read of the scores & a 99 point loss could’ve been different if some players did what Sean was paying them to do. Went in with 1 ruckman & Brennan went down.

Princess’ Cats 1,995 def Nambucca Axemen 1,912

Ariana’s Best: Goddard, Ablett, Stanton, Didak, Sandilands, Higgins, Podsialdy
Deano’s Best: Shaw, Goddard, Griffen, Giansiracusa, Higgins, Harvey

They say there’s an average of 2 upsets per week. Well, here’s the 3rd with Arianna pulling off a thriller. Didak finally decided to show something this week.

The premiership contender couldn’t beat the champ, but could feel confident in the knowledge that, in all probability, he was beaten by Ablett.

iTeam 2,095 def Crimson Sting 1,483

Anthony’s Best: Goddard, Ablett, Swan, Cox, Chapman, Kennedy, Westhoff
Tyler’s Best: Goodwin, Ablett, Sandilands, Cox

Everything went right for Anthony, but at the time when this was a percentage booster. This score would’ve beaten all but one team this week with Kennedy & Westhoff having career best games.

Round 8 Previews

  • Cash For Clunkers ($2.15) .vs. BullDogz ($1.71)
    • If I can get a selections right in time, I’m in this contest to stop Mike winning 2 in a row after some bad luck in the 1st 3 rounds.
  • Germinators ($1.95) .vs. Mopar ($1.87)
    • The top of the table clash with the boss taking on the apprentice. Can Germayn pull off an win in the unusual role of underdog??
  • Half Back Flanker ($1.95) .vs. Benditos ($1.87)
    • Smarting from an uspet draw, Darren will be firing in this top 6 clash that could make way for the outsiders to take advantage of the loser.
  • Grey Wet Sydney ($2.17) .vs. Joden Warriors ($1.69)
    • This isn’t a gimme, either, but Justin will have a tall order if the Warriors score like they did last week.
  • The Juddanaut ($1.83) .vs. Bomber cyborgs ($1.98)
    • This game should be interesting to see who can keep pace with the top 8. Both are coming off losses & the Juddanauts were looking good things early in the season.
  • Princess’ Cats ($1.31) .vs. Crimson Sting ($3.46)
    • Cannot see nothing but the champ taking it out on the Sting in a big way.
  • iTeam ($1.99) .vs. Nambucca Axemen ($1.82)
    • Ooh, knowing Deano he’d be furious going down to the boss lady. He’d better focus this week with Anthony’s team one of the hottest of round 7 or he could lose touch of the top 4.

Good luck to all this weekend with some very exciting results ahead.

Born in Warragul, West Gippsland, Victoria. I’m married with 2 beautiful young girls & a cat (Hirdy). One is at school & the other has autism. I support Essendon but I’m not the one-eyed feral type. Played footy for 1 year in under 15s. Was roped in, actually, as my brother was in the team & they were short of players. Terrible team, mind you. Coach had his sons in the midlfield & they were dreadful. What I do?? Not a lot, unfortunately. Cutting a long story short, illness for 24 years this year (ended footy career) & Johnny’s “workplace” laws forced its hand even more. Love to work, but unfortunately part time is the go these days. Now, spend my time doing community radio sports show on Saturdays & wife suggested I build excel programs on sports leagues & other calculations. Enjoy my “twittering” that I recently discovered.

  1. Jermayn Says:

Mike is my brother so im really glad I managed to defeat him :P

Seems like I brought Ablett into my team at the right stage, after a week off and he gets a 167. My midfield now looks ok…

  2. deano Says:

furious alright…you could not have put it better I was beaten by the little champ. You just have to have him in your team, it was a mistake i made last year and i repeated it again this year. I thought it would be better to get one ‘gun’ midfielder and one potential gun…but the way it is now Ablett costs around 550k and if you have him captain he plays like 3 ‘gun’ midfielders. 334 points is a s***load of points for one player to add to your team. Drummond going down early didn’t help either but thems the breaks…Now what to do with him???

If i downgrade him to a rookie and bring hunt off the emergency list and then trade the massively underperforming Rioli for a bit of cash i may just have enough to upgrade McVeigh or Martin to little Gaz…
