Kick2Kick League Round 8 Review

BullDogz 1,705 def Cash Or Clunkers 1,601

Mike’s Best: Lake, McDonald, Barlow, Cross, J. Selwood, Boyd, Sandilands
My Best: Hodge, Blake, Barlow, Kreuzer, Byrnes

It didn’t look good after Saturday night being around 600 pts down, but I knew I had players in hand & Hodge as my captain. In the end, a couple of players short, including Griffen, made the difference as I work the cap to get rid of the injured & out of favour on the forward line.

Mopar 2,183 def Germinators 2,151

George’s Best: Hodge, Goddard, Gilbert, Enright, Swan, Barlow, Sandilands, Johnson
Jermayn’s Best: Hodge, Goddard, Enright, Waters, Swan, Barlow, Gibbs, Boyd, Sandilands, Chapman, Didak

All those bests for Jermayn & he still came up short in this predicted thriller that leaves Mopar the only undefeated team. If only Bernie Vince was suspended a week earlier for the boss.

Benditos 2,129 def Half Back Flanker 1,853

Ben’s Best: Hodge, Goddard, Enright, Waters, Swan, Barlow, Dal Santo, Gibbs, Chapman, Hall
Darren’s Best: Hodge, Goddard, Grimes, Barlow, Sandilands, Goodes

The Flankers are carrying a couple of injured players & now Gram goes down early with a hamstring injury & Kelly withdraws late, which always sucks.

Grey Wet Sydney 2,042 def Joden’s Warriors 2,029

Justin’s Best: Goodwin, Hodge, Barlow, Gibbs, Sandilands, Kreuzer, Goodes, Hall
Jodie’s Best: Hodge, Goddard, Carrazzo, Enright, Swan, Bartel, Barlow, Chapman

A massive upset here with Justin getting up by 13 pts. Kreuzer finally fires in a best on ground effort, Hall finally shows up with the midfields & ruck stocks carrying the defence. Both midfields were great with Jodie’s defence carrying the rucks & forwards in a bizarre scoresheet.

Bomber cyborgs 2,119 def The Juddanauts 1,877

Sean’s Best: Hodge, Enright, Waters, Bartel, Barlow, Goddard, J. Selwood, Sandilands, Johnson, Hall
Jason’s Best: Hodge, Goddard, Carrazzo, Enright, Barlow, Judd, Chapman

Sean pulls off a slight upset here despite playing a forward short. The midfield was on fire & their seems to be not many weak links to this team. The Juddanauts really do need a back up ruckman.

Princess’ Cats 2,011 def Crimson Sting 1,524

Ariana’s Best: Hodge, Goddard, Waters, Bartel, Barlow, Didak, Sandilands, Kreuzer
Tyler’s Best: Hodge, Goodwin, Deledio, Goodes, Armstrong, Sandilands

The forward line was off this week, but it mattered little as the Cats rocket into the top 4 over the improving Sting on the back of top rucks & solid midfield & defence scores.

iTeam 1.986 def Nambucca Axemen 1,713

Anthony’s Best: Goddard, Broughton, Waters, Swan, Barlow, Gibbs, Boyd, Chapman, Goodes
Deano’s Best: Enright, Hodge, Barlow, Goddard, Rioli

Another upset for this week & we’re averaging 3 a round. A good effort by Anthony’s team & the 1,900 plus score is great despite the failures of some.

Deano had Rioli finally show up with Griffen obviously a late withdrawal, Murphy going down for a month & a defence that needs a lift.

Round 9 Previews

  • Cash For Clunkers ($2.43) .vs. Chardy’s Champs ($1.57)
    • The Champ’s are going for 2 wins in a row, but hopefully we’re out to put a stop to the winning run. Needless to say, we both need a win.
  • Germinators ($1.92) .vs. Benditos ($1.89)
    • The boss is on the back foot again with the bookies & they haven’t been wrong predicting his matches. However, it would be unlikely the boss loses two in a row & the Cats are on his hammer.
  • Half Back Flanker ($2.06) .vs. Mopar ($1.77)
    • It’s not a good part of the draw for the Flankers, but with a chance to sneak into the 8 again, the boys are ready to take on the undefeated Mopar.
  • Bad Boys ($2.51) .vs. BullDogz ($1.53)
    • The Doggies got lucky last week, but the Bad Boys are yet to register a win in 5 games. This should be another win for Mike.
  • Grey Wet Sydney ($1.94) .vs. Nambucca Axemen ($1.87)
    • Justin is ready to continue his giant killing run, but Deano doesn’t want 3 straight losses. This could be a battle to stay in the top 8.
  • Princess’ Cats ($1.87) .vs. Bomber cyborgs ($1.95)
    • The bookies like the close ones when Ariana’s involved & she’s running hot charging into the top 4. But, the cyborgs have a team ready to upset the Cats.
  • iTeam ($2.06) .vs. Joden’s Warriors ($1.77)
    • Another giant killing team facing a team that fell victim to a giant killer. Can Anthony make it a double hit for Jodie, who needs a win to possibly leap into the top 8.

Good luck to all this weekend with some very exciting results ahead.

Meet craigeyles

Born in Warragul, West Gippsland, Victoria. I’m married with 2 beautiful young girls & a cat (Hirdy). One is at school & the other has autism. I support Essendon but I’m not the one-eyed feral type. Played footy for 1 year in under 15s. Was roped in, actually, as my brother was in the team & they were short of players. Terrible team, mind you. Coach had his sons in the midlfield & they were dreadful. What I do?? Not a lot, unfortunately. Cutting a long story short, illness for 24 years this year (ended footy career) & Johnny’s “workplace” laws forced its hand even more. Love to work, but unfortunately part time is the go these days. Now, spend my time doing community radio sports show on Saturdays & wife suggested I build excel programs on sports leagues & other calculations. Enjoy my “twittering” that I recently discovered.

  1. Sean Says:

Hi all. By the way they played, i think some of my team must of got hold of some performance enhancing steroids. Especially Big Bad Bustling Barry Hall. Who, by the way has a pretty ordinary Dream Team side.

No doubt some of my players will be back to their ordinary best this week, bringing me back to earth with a thud. Jarrad Waite is a pain ! In my rucks, David Hille is trying to give me “Knightsmares” with his 3rd time lucky report. Boy am i glad he got off.

The cash cows are starting to moo so they may have to be led to the slaughter soon. Giving lots of lovely cash for some el primo players.

  2. Jermayn Says:

I got the second highest score this weekend of our league and I Still lost!!! Just not fair.

Going through my trades quick but have rid myself of a few cash cows like Martin, Nason and Kennelly and upgraded to Ablett, Okeefe etc. I still have three low graders in my forward line and I need to get rid of at least one in Wright, Rocklift & Nyfe.

    @Jermayn,
Yeah, you were pretty stiff there Jermayn. But at least you have a good side, giving you some good wins and percentage.

    Jermayn Reply:

@sean, used a lot of trades to get this team though…
