Kurt Tippett along with Porplyzia have kicked over 50 goals this year to give their forward line more potency.
The Year It Was
- Finished: 5th with 14 wins
- Kick2Kick Season Prediction: 5th – 8th
What Went Right
While some tipped them to make the finals again, others did not and again through smart recruiting and administration, they managed to make an impact in the finals which they have failed to do for a few years.
Tippett and his forward buddies enjoyed a breakout year with him and Porplyzia both kicking over 50 goals, the first time two Crows forwards have done that in the same year. The other forwards also enjoyed being released by their coach and the club had the 5th best forward line in the competition.
What Went Wrong
While Adelaide smashed Essendon in the Elimination final they blew a 30 odd point lead to Collingwood in the Semi Finals. They where ruthless to teams below them on the ladder but apart from a round one win against Collingwood, they did not win against any other top four sides.
Player(s) that Stepped Up
Adelaide have some great legends of the game extending their career’s and playing well into their 30’s but what has always been missing is the next generation. This year they stepped up and the Goodwin’s, McLeod’s & Edwards was able to be the x-factor on top of their improvement.

Burton took likely the mark of the year but was it enough to get another contract for 2010?
Players like Tippett, Dangerfield, Walker, Otten, Vince and Knights all stepped up and if they can improve again next year the club will be in good hands.
Trade Bait/ Goodbye’s
Craig has been ruthless with past delistings and pushing players to retire, will he do the same to Burton & Edwards? I doubt it as they showed enough for another year.
Other players that may expect the coaches and administration axe are Nick Gill who played 17 games last year but only one this year and has plenty of other KPP forwards who have over taken him on the list. Moran is another who has been given a second chance but through injury and indifferent form only played 7 games this year.
Improvement Needed by
Trent Hentschel and Burton have been unlucky through injury but with the break out years of new forwards Tippett, Porplyzia, Knights, Dangerfield & Walker they will need a big year next year.
