What a flop of a weekend, It was good to see some bottom eight teams help shaping the top eight final positions but alot of the teams by the looks of the final margin had already started Mad Monday.
Fremantle defeated Collingwood by 24 points
Collingwood imo are lucky to get this far after a poor second half of the season and their youngsters really looked confused on the weekend by playing outside of Victoria, probably the first time they have been out of the state
These finals are a bonus for the young players and they will be better next year.
Fremantle finished 3rd last and again have teased their supporters by promising so much but delivering nothing. I think they would be going backwards if they give Farmer another year and loosing Carr could be a blessing in disguise.
Port defeated Kangaroos by 76 points
WOW Kangaroos had fourth spot in their sights and then they play like crap against Port? This loss could well mean they loose the chance to pick up young Swan Districts Nicholas Naitanui though.
Kangaroos failed to send off Shannon Grant in his 300th and could well only play 301 games by having to play Sydney in Sydney.
Geelong defeated West Coast by 99 points
Geelong are looking awesome and I am calling a rematch of the 89 grand final with Geelong bringing home back to back premierships.
West Coast will be hoping Kerr stays as with adding Rich (number two pick) and the other young players being coached by Voss could help them rise back up the ladder. I would say West Coast has been the most disappointing team this year next to Port Adelaide who played in the GF last year.
Adelaide defeated Bulldogs by 9 points
Is their room for video replays in the game? I am sure Aker will have a sook in his feature article this week about the need of it but I do not think there is room for it. It did not cost the Dogs the game as they lost by 9 points not 6 or less and it did not mean Adelaide got fourth spot with a win.
I think both the Crows and Dogs will struggle in this final series with injury concerns over their star players in Porplyzia, the Dogs key ruckman Hudson and the lack of goal kicking power in tight scrappy games.

Hawthorn defeated Carlton by 78 points
Did Clarkson play dirty by flooding and not allowing Fev to kick his 8th goal? I think so but to be honest, good on him. Gone are the days of being a gentleman (Clarkson is not a gentleman, just ask the poms) and Fev only has himself to blame as he missed a few easy shots in the first half.
It was also good to see the fans run out and have a good time on the field. Also good on Campbell who stopped to poss for photos with the fans.
Hawks while should play the Cats in the GF, will have their own worries with tribunal carry over points and the hole in defense with Croad as their key backman.
Carlton will be better off next year and they would be better off not trying to get Jeff White and just hope that their three young guns (Cloke, Hamson & Kruzer) improve as White, Brogan or Lade would just be dead wood.
Sydney defeated Brisbane by 61 points
Leigh Mathews quit! The news of the season imo. I however congratulate him for realising that the game has passed him, his team under performed this season and so did what Blight did in 99 and walked. I wonder if Voss will walk from his West Coast coaching position to coach his old side?
I think O’Donnel and Leppitish would be walk up coaches and should do a good job. Wonder if Mathews walked so Brown would stay after their spats this year?
Sydney needs to sack Hall for good, as he is not better and continues to walk the line of stupidity. Why do the players have to be careful around him because of his anger problems?
Richmond defeated Melbourne by 80 points
Richmond finished 9th so it just goes to show that not much has changed in football
Melbourne like Freo have goten rid of quite a lot of dead wood in White, Yze, Holland and Neitz and should be better for it.
St Kilda defeated Essendon by 108 points
You look at all the newspaper headlines and they had Adelaide finish 4th etc but then the Saints ruin their party and flog Essendon by over 100 points. Classic! Saints are a real good story with their coach imo changing their poor culture by dropping under performed players and finally making sure that their talented list has a chance.
Bombers will be glad to see the season finish as they along with West Coast and Fremantle had a lot of injury concerns this year, maybe it brings up the possibility that the AFL lists need to be bigger.

Can’t believe all the talk about Carlton needing to get themselves a good ruckman – they got one with the number 1 pick last year! Let’s not forget all the money they wasted on Cain Ackland!

I think the actions of the hawks during saturday nites game were pretty crappy. if you notice, carlton didnt flood the backline to try and prevent buddy franklin kicking his 100th, yet at the other end of the ground the hawks did. they had won the game, it had absolutely no bearing on the outcome of anything…i think that the alastair clarkson is an idiot for trying to smother fevola’s chances of 100. yes he had his chances to kick the 100 but it was still pathetic to see the hawks desperately trying to prevent fevola from kicking just one more goal. i b et if the roles were reversed and buddy needed one more goal but didnt get it because the blues flooded then clarkson would have had a whinge, and the other thing is, is franklin wouldve kicked his 100th anyways, if not last week then this week, whereas fevola had only one more game to kick his 100th
disgraceful is all im saying. hawthorn has lost alot of my respect now, and i hope the bulldogs smash them this week, physically and emotoinally and on the scoreboard!

Agree Tristan that Carlton do not need a ruckman as they have three players who could hold that position for a few years. BUT Carlton are a fickle lot and they want success as they now have a quality midfield.
However they need to address the other ends of the ground, like there defense. Wait is over rated and cannot play on a man and Santana and Thortan are also 2nd and 3rd tier backmen which was obvious against Hawks on the weekend. They also need to get another forward who can kick 20 odd goals. Fev is good for 80-100 a year but you need another two who can kick 20-30 a year (Eddie Betts and ???).

@SunCity_Royal – Would you let your opposition kick his 100th on you and be remembered in the record books of which idiot let Fev kick his 100th? I would not want that….
AFL is not cricket a gentlemans game. Its war and you never give your opposition anything to hang their hat on. When your on top, you make sure they do not have a sense of victory at all. Just ask Geelong flogging West Coast by 20 goals twice in a year….
I personally do not have a problem with what Clarkson did and I don’t think he will loose any sleep over it either.
