Brendon Fevola? Who will want to Risk him?

Read with interest the article about Brendon Fevola written by Jon Ralph from Herald Sun and his call for him to be on a list for season 2012. Now I am all for clubs giving players a second/ third and fourth chance and I was pleased to see Ben Cousins get a gig at Richmond but will any club really choose to recruit him?

Fevola back in the Navy Blue? I doubt he will get picked up by any club for season 2012 but if he does, it will be for Carlton

Most of the noise is about him being picked up by Melbourne, Western Bulldogs and or Greater Western Sydney but I just do not see how he would fit in either team.

Melbourne already have leading flaky forwards in Liam Jurrah and Jack Watts, what they need is a gorrillia like Chris Dawes, Quinten Lynch, John Butcher etc someone who can sit in the goal square and be the long kick out of trouble option. Brendon Fevola has never been that type of player and never will.

The Dogs are in need of a refresh/ rebuild and are no longer pushing for a premiership – also while Barry Hall can be argued as a great pick up I would argue otherwise. His recruitment has pushed Jarred Grant and Liam Jones development back two years and lets face it the Dogs will not push for a premiership in the next year or two. They need games into them and Roughead.

Now lets look at the new kids on the block! While their squad is largely unknown they already have a leading forward in rugby defect Israel Falou and lets face it Fevola can only play in the one spot and can they afford to carry two similar forwards?

One club that has not been talked about much is Carlton. While coach Ratten was asked about him today, he replied that he has never gave it a thought however if they cannot poach an out of contract forward like Chris Dawes, John Butcher, Scott Gumbleton etc then just maybe they may look at the romantic option.

Carlton needs a forward and while I like Waite up forward, he cannot stay on the park and I am sure the Carlton forward line would look more dangerous with Waite plus another tall forward and the small/ mediums of Simpson, Gartlett and Betts.

What do you think? Would Brendon Fevola be a good option for another club? Would you want your club to pick him up? Am I off the mark with my above comments? Write your comments and opinions in the comments field below and let me know.
