Dream Team: Do we Trade Ablett & Richardson?

Posted on 05 May 2009 by

In the last two weeks every Dream Team coach I am sure will have to make a major decision about their Dream Team with some major injuries to key players.

The Injury List that will Probably Effect you

  • Hamish Hartlett – 2-3 weeks
  • Gary Ablett jnr – 2-3 weeks
  • Dustin Fletcher – 3-4 weeks
  • Mathew Richardson – 10-12 weeks
  • Brent Harvey – 10-12 weeks
  • Tom Williams (unsure)
  • David Hille - season
  • Rhys Palmer – season

Gary Ablett – Keep or Trade

Personally I would keep him as its only 2-3 weeks and even with an injury interrupted game, he still got 80 odd which is a pass.

If you do trade him, some possible players to swap for him could be Bartel (21k difference), Chapman (53k difference) or Goddard (80k odd difference). You will not be able to use these players as Cash Cows (players you farm for increase in value) but every Dream Team needs a star who averages over 100 a game.

So Who do you now make as Captain?

With Geelongs best player out, the other stars in Bartel, Corey, Chapman & Selwood could all be candidates if their in your team. Others could be Lockyer, Goddard, C Cornes, Cox, L Davis etc.

Basically your after someone who can score over 120 week in and week out while Ablett gets back.

Trade Palmer, Harvey, Richardson & Hille

If someone is out for 5+ weeks I think its time for them to be traded, you may be able to carry a rookie but these guys who are expensive you cannot carry them.

  • Palmer -> S Hill, Duffield as they spend more time in Freo’s midfeild.
  • Harvey ->
  • Richardson -> N Riewoldt, Roughead.
  • Hille -> McIntosh, Jolly or Fraser.

What would you trade them for? Let us know in the comments below..

What do you do with Williams, Hartlett & Fletcher?

  • Williams I would leave (if your crazy enough to have him in your side) and see just how big the injury is first.
  • Fletcher I would personally trade.
  • Hartlett’s price will increase when he gets back into Ports squad but expect him to miss up to 4 weeks.

    i’ve personally decided to trade Ablett for Bartel. Got a little bit of cash as well and the extra bucks allowed me to swap Troy Simmonds for H.McIntosh so was happy enough with that. Groin injuries can be a bit iffy and impact on your running ability, so little gaz may not be back to his best for a few weeks after he returns either. worth trading i feel.
    Now NO MORE INJURIES PLEASE!!!!!

    Jermayn Reply:

    I think I will wait until I trade Ablett, hopefully Corey and some of my other midfielders who are playing half heartily can step up to cover Ablett for the next 2-3 weeks. I need to pick up another midfielder so I may have to swap Yarren (will not get a game with the cops interested in him) for a rookie (+40k) and swap either Rich or Ebert/ Masten for someone more even.

    McIntosh is a good pick up.
