Another rant by the fat couch potato…

No no do not cross that line....
Saturday Afternoon Games
I have to give the AFL a clap for organising the big games for Saturday Afternoon. Well done and I think forget the Saturday twilight and Thursday or Monday night games and lets just focus on where it once began…
AFLPA gets a cross
Why do they only now open their mouth about the Telstra Dome fiasco? And how come we did not hear them when Akermanis got kicked out of his club? I thought the AFLPA was there to help the players or are their mouths also tied by the AFL? Surely they should have opened their mouth when Higgins injured his ankle or at the start of the season after the ACDC concerts.
Big cross by the gutless controlled by the AFL AFLPA who have failed every AFL player.
Update on my Rant on the AFLPA
Apparently somone reads Kick2Kick as I have been spending the last two days since my rant was published emailing back & forth with a representitive of the AFLPA.
It has also been agreed that I can publish what we have discussed, so stay tuned.
Interchange Rule
Is it time the AFL makes another bold rash decision and pull it? What gets me with the rule is that they get pinged not for having 19 men on the field as it was originally designed for. Ballantyne and Ladson did not step on the field at the same time as the players they interchanged with, they lost the game for their team because they stepped outside a box drawn on the field….
Surely its an over reaction that has gone too far.
No Wooden Spoons Allowed
Honestly who cares if the Fremantle supporters carry wooden spoons at the ground to mock the West Coast supporters. It may be the only way we see any good action at the game with both teams really struggling.
Your Rant or Opinion?
What do you think of the fat couch potatoes rant? Agree with him or do you think he has to get off the couch and do some exercise? If you have your own rant, please also sit on the couch with me and lets rant together.

Saturday Afternoon Games
There are factors like broadcasting arrangements, catering arrangements and fixturing which limit the number of games that can be scheduled on any one day. Sure, it would be nice to have things the way we remember them and the way we liked them as individuals, but it’s not always practical.
AFLPA
Controlled by the AFL? The players casn easily thumb their noses at the AFL, but then where do they earn their living? It has to be a consultative relationship between the AFL and the PA. Do you seriously believe that they haven’t made representations about the Docklands surface? Just because you didn’t read about it doesn’t mean it didn’t happen.
Akermanis
Akermanis chose to put himself ahead of his team, continually, at two clubs. The only help he needs is in extracting his boots from his mouth and even then he’d wave any help away. Just deserts.
Interchange
White line or yellow line, it can’t be THAT hard to stay behind a line until your teammate has crossed it. It’s not rocket surgery! The problem here isn’t the rule, which has been in place in one way or another since the inception of the VFA, but the super-close scrutiny and the new penalty.
See Fifty must go!.
Spoons
There’s clearly a public safety issue in play here.

@aussierulesblog, I understand Akermanis only has his big mouth to blame but surely if there is a breach of a contract, why is not the AFLPA involved? Or is it because the Dogs are going to pay out his contract?
I hope to be proven wrong, I really do
Spoons
Aint we just being a little to touchy and protective? I heard an interview with Wayne Bradshaw (think in charge of the WA football) and he listed a whole lot of measurements of restrictions for the spoons. I know he is just doing his job but why can people have banners/ flags with sticks but cannot bring in a spoon that big?
and what if you tied the flag to the spoon, will it be allowed then? Or a scarf? Will the flag waving tradition between West Coast and Essendon be banned because you may hit someone in the face with the scarf?

@Jermayn,
Congratulations! I read a whole post without cringing over the (mis)use of language! (sorry if this sounds patronising, certainly not intended to be, more of an encouragement)
Aker is getting his money, so there’s not too much for him (or the AFLPA) to complain about, other than his (already) tarnished reputation, which he hopes to trade into a media income anyway.
You’re right on the spoons at a practical level. The difference, I think, is that a flag is just an expression of who you support. A spoon is a taunt. Throw in too much booze and you’ve got a (potential) problem. One of the most wonderful things about Aussie rules is the mixing of the crowds like a big marble cake. Not for us a group of WCE supporters at one end and Dockers fans at the other, divided by a huge steel fence! Most people will laugh the spoons off as the joke they are intended to be, but some others. . .

@aussierulesblog, Thanks for the encouragement! Unfortunately yes my spelling and grammar mistakes out shine most of my good work but I do try and better my English skills and writing for Kick2Kick helps.
The last game I went to, I saw someone use a flag as a taunting tool and the result? It snapped into two and the area of the crowd then cheared the loudest all day!!
btw I will have a follow up post regarding the AFLPA next week.
