The season reports are in ladder position they finished so first up we have the Melbourne Demons. If you would like to do up a report on any other team, please contact us.

Jack Grimes was yet another young gun for the Demons who showed plenty.
Year It Was
- Finished: 16th with 4 wins, 18 losses and 74.66%
- Kick2Kick Season Prediction: 16th
What Went Right
They finished 16th! I know that may seem strange but they finished last with less than 5 wins which means they pick up the priority pick and get pick #1 & #2. This ensures they will get two of the best three young players in Scully, Trengove or Morabito.
They also finished more financial well off with numerous ‘debt demolition drives’ and the future does look much more brighter with the young players like Jurrah, Pettard, Morton and Grimes etc all improving.
What Went Wrong
- Jim Stynes cancer scare robbed them off a great President and money maker for half a season.
- Jack Watts had a flop of a debut season. While he has a lot to learn, his first few games failed to show why he was a number one pick.
- Injuries – In the last five matches they had up to 17 players out with various injury problems
Player(s) that Stepped Up
- Liam Jurrah – Drafted via the Pre Season draft and showed enough he will be a bonus pick up.
- Jarrod Rivers – Best year after many years struggling to get his body right.
- Aaron Davey – Both Aaron & Rivers where listed as our “Improvement needed” at the start of the year and they did to play majority of the year and provided much needed class & leadership.
Trade Bait/ Goodbye’s
Wheatley, Whealan & Robertson have already said goodbye with their farewell match in round 22 but there are a few others that could either be used as trade bait or will be lucky not to be delisted.
- Daniel Bell – 5 years on the senior list and only played 3 games this year
- Lynden Dunn – Played a few games late in the season but has failed to impress.
- Paul Johnson – Has size but with Martin & Jamar ahead of him, has Melbourne lost patience with him?
- Michael Newton – Potential key forward but only played 5 games after 16 last year.
Improvement Needed by
Overall an improvement must be seen by the whole club as they have now had 2-3 seasons down the bottom and these young kids they have must start to show something. While Finals next year may be out of the question, a move up the ladder with 7-9 wins is not.
Jack Watts is one young gun who must show more next year as Robertson’s departure will leave an hole down forward.
