2009 NAB Round 1 Tips pt1

Posted on 06 February 2009 by

The Pre Season competition is on us which means we are close to a month away from the real stuff. The NAB Pre Season usually means that the clubs play their kids while their stars warm up for the real stuff.

Some clubs will be desperate for some glory after bleak years and will push for Pre Season Premiership Cup, the teams would be: St Kilda, Richmond, Carlton, Essendon and Fremantle.

The first part of round one will feature two games with Collingwood playing West Cost Eagles at Subiaco after their South Africa game got canceled and an Aboriginal All Stars game against Adelaide Crows in Darwin. Next week will feature the other seven games.

The Eagles had a dirty 2008 but a promise of a new game plan could help them win a few more games.

West Coast Eagles vs Collingwood Magpies

I am tipping Collingwood on class alone, both sides have a bit to prove after disappointing ends to 2008. I think a fit and healthy Magpie unit will push for top 4 this year and they will be keen to start off well. Will be interesting to see how the Eagles young brigade go, they have a lot of young talent coming through.
Collingwood fairly easily

Aboriginal All Stars vs Adelaide Crows

I am going for the all-stars, I love the way footy is played at the moment and it suits the indigenous players down to the ground. I love these games for the electrifying pace, dazzling skills and the camaraderie shown by the aboriginal boys.

I reckon the Eagles will put on a nice show with Cox, Kerr & Glass playing but at the moment Collingwood do look like they have more class (which pains me in saying it).

I also expect Adelaide to win. Problem with most Aboriginal All Star games is their lack of Key Position players, probably lucky that Adelaide no not have any Key Forwards to trouble them though.

Lets get away from the nab please…
