The season started well with a better than normal first up game against Carlton and then a draw against St Kilda in round 2 however like any young side they experienced a lot of down with losses to cellar dwellers in Port and Gold Coast. However after some torn up and microwaved memberships, they ended the year with a promising win against Sydney. If you would like to help out by writing your own sides season review, please contact me.

Tyrone Vickery was one of many who lifted in overall a promising year for Richmond. Will 2012 be the year of the tiger?
While Brett Deledio has received Best and Fairest’s for his club he has rarely won any acknowledgement outside the club, however 2011 was different and he gained his first All Australian squad nomination. Others to lift were Trent Cotchin who for the first time played in his short career every game of the year and he even captained his side when Chris Newman went down, while he still continues to shorten the gab between his best and worst he is a future captain and the side looks more dangerous with him in it and fit.
Another benefit for the year was that while Jack Riewoldt struggled with injuries other lifted with Vickery and Martin kicked over 30 and Jake King, Robin Nahas, Trent Cotchin and Brad Miller all kicked more goals than Collins did last year. He is now at Carlton but last year he was second in their goal kicking. If you look at teams like Collingwood and Geelong they are successful because they have multiple avenues to goals. I get the feeling this was coaches Hardwicks one goal for the year and he succeeded.
Richmond still have holes in their squad with a key defender who can take on the gorillas of the competition and a big bodied ruckmen like Mumford who can control the midfield battle but even Collingwood has questions over their squad. Will 2012 be different? We have discussed before that next year will be the year of the tiger and lets hope it wont be another failed promise… The building blocks are in place and they have the weapons but do they have the belief?
Season 2011 Snap Shot
Trade Bait
Draft picks are like gold with GWS coming in next year so for Richmond to fill in the holes of their squad they need to give something, so lets look at what they have who could entice Adelaide for their man Ivan Maric or other clubs for draft picks.
Will Thursfield has been in and out of the side after failing to be traded to another club last year. Will he be the Carltons equivalent of Thorten who every year has been bantered around as trade bait?
Ben Nason has became a cult figure with his looks and dreadlocks in his first year but he has failed to capitilise on it in his second year and as he was originally from SA he has been talked about as trade bait. I do not think Richmond will be able to pull a fast one over Adelaide again.
