One round left and the race to the top eight is down to 9 times with only Richmond a real possibility to make the finals but realistically they have buckleys chance and will finish 9th yet again.
Bulldogs defeated Essendon by 46 points
Bulldogs will be happy with a win but I am afraid that a win like this over an under manned team will just gloss over their problems. West will be a huge loss if he is unable to continue and play finals for the Dogs.
Essendon is doing all the right things with their new coach and getting rid of the Sheedy dead wood, now they just need to get their injury crisis sorted as that can and will cost a coach his position (just ask Grant Thomas).
Richmond defeated Fremantle by 7 points
Richmond needed a much bigger win but was only able to win by 7 points and shows why they are destined to again finish 9th for about the sixth time since the 90s.
Fremantle looked good and what is interesting is that they have played ‘better’ without their hungry solo leader Mathew Pavlich with Murphy and Campbell showing promise.
Port Adelaide defeated Melbourne by 78 points
This game only was interesting to see which one tanked best and the Demons won. Port lost their chance to pick up Fijian born ruckman Nicholas Natanu with number 3 with their flogging over Melbourne which will ensure the Demons will get an extra draft pick and pick 1.

Carlton defeated Brisbane by 6 points
WOW Brisbane lost and did they also loose J Brown their captain who wants to play in a finals team? They had a 30 odd point lead and blew it, are they fit enough as they have blown quite a few leads.
Carlton have shown a lot of promise this year and will ensure that they will contest finals for the next few years. Seeing C Cloke kick 4 also would give coach Ratten a smile to see someone else kick goals besides Fevola who only managed two.
Collingwood defeated Sydney by 45 points
Sydney will just make the finals and surpisingly even have a chance to sneak back into 4th spot with a win over Brisbane next week with their surperior perctentage.
Five teams (Kangaroos 4th, Collingwood 5th, Adelaide 6th, St Kilda 7th & Sydney 8th) has a chance to sneak into 4th spot and play Geelong and get a second chance. I would say Collingwood is the best chance with Cloke the most important player of the club.
Geelong defeated Kangaroos by 33 points
Thompson may have lost his spot on the list next year with Hale kicking 8, McIntosh and Petrie playing career best form at the moment. Kangaroos did something that I have been wondering about for a few weeks and that is isolate Harry Taylor with your best forward. Sydney did it with Hall and this week Laidley did it with Hale. Geelong will allow it as they want Scartlet free which is dangerous.
St Kilda defeated Adelaide by 48 points
Adelaide like the last four years will again flounder come finals because they again struggle to kick goals. St Kilda more than doubled their score who only managed 47 points which is even less than what Melbourne and West Coast managed to score in heavy looses.
Lyon is a smart coach, he dropped key players and put them on notice and now he is starting to see the benefits with Milne being carougeous and being a team player. Cogratulations to Robert Harvey who deservingly got an awesome tribute with past team mates (which is quite a lot) etc helping celebrate the win.
Hawthorn defeated West Coast by 71 points
Buddy did NOT get his 100th so it sets up a perfect opportunity for fans to run out twice in the next game with Buddy needing two goals and Fevola needing 8 goals.
Hawthorn showed why they are possibily the only team to challenge Geelong with a nine goal 3rd quarter however the reason why they wont win the premiership is due to their inaccuracy at goals (50% accuracy rate on weekend) and their ill discipline with carry over points threatening them to loose several stars.

Great result for footy with Buddy not kicking the ton - sets the stage for a beauty at the MCG!

I have to agree with you 110%, only wish the AFL were not so anal about people running on the ground…
Also wish that Fev gets his 100. I think that this wont be the first time that two footballers kick their 100th in a game though hey?
btw thanks for your comment
