Round 22 AFL tips

Posted on 29 August 2008 by

As the curtains close on yet another season we look back at some of the things 2008 has produced. Another pathetic year by the disappointing Dockers, a surprise packet in the form of the Bulldogs. Massive falls from power with the Eagles and Port Power, and Geelong looks to be yet again untouchable at the top of the ladder. With one round to go and the Final 8 already in place, it will be interesting to see how the weekend pans out.

Fremantle vs Collingwood

Well the Dockers suck. There’s no two ways about it. Their fans will again end the season thinking what went wrong. Well nobody knows, maybe they’re too old, or maybe Pavlich’s head is too big. Whichever it may be I would like to see them end the season the way the started it. With a loss :)

Collingwood need a win to have some confidence going into September and I think they will get the job done at Subiaco.

Collingwood win

Kangaroos vs Port Adelaide

Geelong ruined the Kangaroos winning streak but they still played well. They have a relatively easy game this week and need to win to cement the double chance. Which they will need. Some say they are the only real threat to Geelong, I disagree. They are good, but not that good.

Port Adelaide need to give Mark Williams, Tredrea and a few other over-rated players the boot and start again and hopefully get some more members and fans to the game. Oh well there’s always next year

Kangaroos win

Geelong vs West Coast

Geelong will demolish the Eagles. Simple as that. The cats are on their way to consecutive premierships and I don’t think any team can stop them, but hopefully they do.

The Eagles are in trouble. In two years they have managed to lose pretty much their entire midfield. First Cousins, then Judd, Braun retired and now Kerr wants out. A spectacular meltdown and I don’t think they should bother showing up on Saturday.

Geelong easily

Adelaide vs Western Bulldogs

The Crows are in the 8, but they are far from convincing. They struggle to kick goals and they will more than likely make a quick exit from the finals.

Buddy Franklin will kick his 100th this game

The Bulldogs were out of form but were played back into some last week. They will come out pretty hungry one would think, and I reckon they might just pip the Crows at AAMI.

Bulldogs in a close one

Carlton vs Hawthorn

The match of the round. And it won’t be live. Well I’m disappointed and sick of not getting games live on T.V. But it still will be a good game with all eyes focused on Fevola and Franklin. Can they both kick a hundred? Buddy will, I don’t think Fevola will.

Carlton improved a lot this year and the signs for next year are looking very promising, if they nab Kerr in the draft then they will be all set to take a premiership in the coming years.

Hawthorn win

Sydney vs Brisbane

Well this would have been an awesome game to see, if Brisbane had of won last week. If so this literally would have been a play off to see who grabs a spot in the 8. But it’s not, and you have to wonder, what do the remaining teams have to play for in round 22? Would you even care knowing the season is over anyways?

It’ll be interesting to see how not only Brisbane but the other bottom 8 teams play.

Sydney for me

Melbourne vs Richmond

I hope the Demons can win. But I don’t think they can. They have some potential for the future but this has been a season to forget. In a game that has absolutely no bearing on anything, it should be a ok game. Who can lose the best? I would like to see Richmond fail but I think that they are too strong for the Demons and should come away with the final points of the season.

Richmond win

Essendon vs St Kilda

Essendon are depleted. They have about 24 fit men to choose from and they have absolutely no chance of beating the saints this week. I like what Mathew Knights is doing with the team though. He should be commended.

St Kilda still are pretenders. Removing Grant Thomas did nothing for the club and I seriously doubt they will make it past the first round of the finals, but this week should be an easy task for them.

St Kilda easily

Grew up in Geraldton Western Australia but had a die hard passion for the mighty Bulldogs. Moved to Sydney in 2008 and while the AFL's presence is less and hard to watch a Bullies game the passion for them to reach a Grand Final has not. Go Doggies!!!

Agree that Port, Freo and Eagles were the most disappointing this year and that Saints and Adelaide are making up the numbers of the finals along with Sydney imo.

btw whats the chance Carlton also picking up Cousins with Kerr and using the 3 ex-Eagles to buy/ steal themselves a GF?

    My tips:
    Collingwood
    Roos
    Geelong
    Adelaide
    Hawks
    Sydney
    Tigers
    Saints
