Carlton defeated West Coast 37 points
Well the game was a sellout and everything we expected in the beginning. Judd was booed by the fans that used to love him, and then the minute he stepped up next to an Eagle, he received the treatment we all knew he would. Carlton was very good. They are finally starting to get their game plan right, and with Judd and Carrazzo playing very well in the midfield, Carlton fans finally have something to cheer about.
The Eagles on the other hand have crash-landed severely. They are now 1-6 after round 7 and really don’t look like improving heaps this season. They’re games are boring and they’re no longer the fast free-flowing Eagles of the past. My suggestion is to stick with Chad Jones, McKinley and Kennedy in the forward line along with Wirrapunda, and throw Lynch into the backline. Because with his monster kick, they seemingly have a ready made full-back. They are definitely in a re-building stage but may not be too far off.
Geelong defeated Brisbane Lions by 27 points
Are the cracks finally starting to show in Geelong? They remain undefeated for the moment, but one can’t help but wonder after a narrow win against Fremantle, and only putting Brisbane away in the final term, are they starting to lose that invincibility they once had? They were able to put Brisbane away after three quarter time, but seemed to struggle somewhat beforehand to pull away from an inferior team. Then again, Maybe their just tired.
Brisbane on the other hand was good. They will be a real contender very soon and are taking it up to the big teams. Their one main problem is working cohesively in the midfield and being able to play four full quarters of football consistently, week in and week out.
Hawthorn defeated Collingwood by 65 points
Terry Wallace commented that Hawthorn is the best drilled side he’s ever seen. And it’s true. They are a slick unit that works hard for each other, and the skill level of this unbeaten side is superb. They smashed Collingwood and Buddy Franklin rebounded well. I cannot wait to see the Hawks take on the Cats in Round 17.

Collingwood were ok. They tried their hardest and continued to put pressure on the Hawks even when the game was lost. They were simply outplayed by a much better side but probably could’ve lost by a bit less.
St Kilda defeated Richmond by 3 points
Well Richmond sure is a surprise packet this year. We all tipped them to be down the bottom with Melbourne, but like Carlton they may have finally found their form and are taking it right to the better clubs in the League. They played really well against St Kilda and just missed out but Terry Wallace should be impressed with his young side’s effort.
St Kilda on the other hand are struggling. They are 4-3 after 7 games but most tipped them to have a better record than they do. I don’t think that they have figured out exactly what their game plan is, or if they have they cannot seem to effectively execute it. Their doing ok but that is the point. They need to start playing a lot better if they want a chance at the premiership.
Adelaide defeated Kangaroos by 33 points
Adelaide are doing very well at the moment. They’re beating the teams they should be, and really challenging the higher teams. They played very well again against the Kangaroos and now sit comfortably on a 5-2 record going into the bye next week.
The Kangaroos are doing ok. To me they were never really in contention for the premiership but are still developing into a good side for the future. Adelaide were simply too classy and good for the Kangaroos, but North’s next game should provide them with a win against a struggling West Coast.
Western Bulldogs defeated Sydney by 18 points
Well Sydney perhaps are also not the team they used to be. They drew with the Kangaroos last week when they should have won, and were unable to stop the rampaging Bulldogs this week. They are really missing Barry Hall I think, but they also just don’t seem to have the pace they used to have.
Well what we can say about the Dogs. They are the real deal. 6 wins and a draw and they are playing well together and Bulldogs fans everywhere should be excited. Adam Cooney is starring in this team but the way they work for each other is simply outstanding. The defence is always receiving help from the midfielders and forwards even. They are a real premiership contender I think.
Melbourne defeated Fremantle by 6 points
What a game. Melbourne were brave and outstanding. To come back from 50 points down is a massive feat for any team, especially for a side that has been as shocking as Melbourne. If today’s game is anything to go by, the Demons might not have such a bad future after all. Great win!

Fremantle are pathetic. Absolutely pitiful and should be ashamed. Dockers’ fans have every right to be furious with their team. To give up a 50 point lead to any team is shocking. They need to have a really good look at themselves because I think that they’re in for a long, painful season. At least they’re cross town rivals have an excuse for not doing well. Fremantle is without excuse however. They have the talent and the experience, I don’t think Chris Connelly was to blame for this team, and neither is Mark Harvey.
Port Adelaide defeated Essendon by 64 points
The Power are on the up after 3 consecutive wins and may finally be coming back into form. They have played well these last few weeks after a lack luster start to the season. Another good win against Essendon helps their cause immensely.
Essendon look to be exciting. They need to get a bit more experience under their belt, and endurance is key with this young team. They play a fast attacking style of game, but can’t seem to stick with it all day and need to learn how to. Also their once solid defence is shaky at best and needs drastic improvement. Against Port Adelaide however, they were disapointing

“Essendon look exciting”. Are you kidding? They weren’t competitive at any stage during the match, and they’re “exciting”. That’s optimism for you.
Desperately disappointing to see Richmond get beaten, ultimately by a side who didn’t really play as well as we did. But it’s time we actually took these opportunities too – good sides win close games. And with the Doggies a few weeks ago and the Saints this week, we really should have an additional 6 points to our name.
There are some really good signs though.

When i say they look exciting, i’m talking about the year so far…they played a shocker yesterday, so what…to kick almost 100 points in a losing game and still get thumped just means that your defence is pretty bad, which i mentioned in the post evidently. they may not have been that competitive yesterday but remember they came up against last years biggest improvers and grand finalists. who evidently are an extremely talented team. and yes it is optimistic but they will be a very good team, very soon
The tigers need to learn to put teams away, they should have beaten my bulldogs, but couldn’t and were in the end lucky to escape with a draw…against the saints i’m not sure quite what happened, but St Kilda didnt deserve to win that game…they don’t seem to know how to finish games off, but they’re a young developing side and the future looks pretty good.

@The Wounded Tiger & SunCity_Royal – What would you rather?? Loosing but kicking goals and being ‘exciting’ or loose tight matches? I remember a similar arguement raised by Kevin Sheedy when Tigers Wallace beat Adelaide a few years ago by using ‘Basketball’ tactics.
What gets me is that the Bombers back line is not that new and inexperienced with Fletcher, Michael and Rama etc. I also think they are carrying a few players like Laycott, Rama, Johnson, Lloyd and Johns who should not be getting a game.

@Wounded Tiger – Yes there are some good signs for the Tigers but you still are only 12th. That would be disappointing as if you want to sneak into the top eight, you need to win games like the last two weeks. Totally dominating and yet only 2 premiership points??

well losing is still losing, but to be honest i think the bombers are exciting to watch (most of the time) but their backline is terrible, and yeh its not inexperienced, it just needs to be changed i think. Mal Michael is a good player but the game is so different than when he was a dominant, but i think the m ain problem would be support. perhaps the bombers midfield needs to step up a bit and help out the backline…i don’t know the real cause of their problem but i think they’re also definitely in a rebuilding stage but they can still play good footy…
also how much impact has the injury of Davey and other key players had? they’ve had a bad run this year…

hey i also gotta question…did Nick Riewlodt cry when he hurt his knee? i didnt see the game but assume he did seeing as he always does…

The Bombers were extremely disappointing, they desperately need some experience back in the line up!
The Tigers were good but like the Bombers still lost. The boys from the West are shocking! Collingwood were made to look like juniors by a rampaging Hawthorn Team, there forward line is unstoppable at the moment and you would have to say that the Western Bulldogs would now be pushing themselves up with the like of Hawthorn.
Go the VICS !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
