2009 Round 5 DreamTeam Wrapup

Posted on 27 April 2009 by

After another week full of upsets, the debate about Brent Harvey’s form has well & truly shut after the “chicken wing” applied to him Saturday night. In fact, if you had both Harvey AND David Hille, you’d have a right to be browned off.

As far as the great “Kick2Kick” writers challenge goes..

  • Deano’s “Nambucca Axemen” are on top of the ladder with 2-0. But, he may feel the pressure as Brent Harvey is done for 12 weeks & Troy Simmonds is no certainty to come back for the Tigers. How Scott Lucas went up in value this week is beyond me, but I don’t think Deano would mind that at all.
  • Next is “The Royal Knights”, our esteemed “expert” is being done by the wife. By the looks of things, I’d say she ran out of cash before the forward line was complete. Played with a 6 man defence/ forward line & still is 2-0.
  • Jermayn’s “Germinators” must still be disappointed with the likes of Hodge, Brown & Pavlich, but is also a 2-0 team.
  • Michael’s “Dorkers” are 0-2 & is taking the risk with Tiger Mark Coughlan whilst holding onto Blue Robbie Warnock. Cheap ruckman are very hard to come by this season.
  • Holding us all up is Johnnytruent’s “Diamond12″. Played with one short in the midfield this week & plays in the early battle for the league spoon next week.

And, speaking of spoons, my “Great Izzacs” are looking to apply for some sort of stimulus package. Ended up 3 players short this week & now really need to pick things up.

Here’s the OFFICIAL best 10 list after round 5 of the 2009 season

This week, I’m providing a question. I’m giving a team of players (in budget) based on “scoreboard pressure” per possession. In other words, how many touches does each player need before they damage the opposition in the worst way possible…on the scoreboard?
We can put in any old willy nilly player, such as a 1 gamer getting 1 kick for 1 goal, so I made a rule of a minimum of 2/3 of the season.
I’ve listed starting price & price up to round 5.

Meet craigeyles

Born in Warragul, West Gippsland, Victoria. I’m married with 2 beautiful young girls & a cat (Hirdy). One is at school & the other has autism. I support Essendon but I’m not the one-eyed feral type. Played footy for 1 year in under 15s. Was roped in, actually, as my brother was in the team & they were short of players. Terrible team, mind you. Coach had his sons in the midlfield & they were dreadful. What I do?? Not a lot, unfortunately. Cutting a long story short, illness for 24 years this year (ended footy career) & Johnny’s “workplace” laws forced its hand even more. Love to work, but unfortunately part time is the go these days. Now, spend my time doing community radio sports show on Saturdays & wife suggested I build excel programs on sports leagues & other calculations. Enjoy my “twittering” that I recently discovered.

Yes my wife is doing better, she had only used 1-2 trades and has rookies not getting a game but she has the big guns (Judd, Ablett etc which is helping her carry the rookies) and she does not know what she is doing :rolls:

I actually traded both Skipworth & Hille last week. Skipworth for his injury and he prob wont increase in value if comes back and Hille because he has been playing like rubbish and just as well. Swapped Hille for McIntosh who returned with a 80+ (higher than Hille this year) and Skipworth for N Krakeour.

Think I will keep onto Brown, Hodge, H Shaw & Pavlich as they can only improve and I only have 14 trades left :o pps:

Thinking I will get rid of either Ebert or Yarren this week. Yarren is doubtful of getting a game as the Cops ‘illegibly’ are interested in him back in WA and Ebert has been out of favour for the Eagles this year.

Overall it was good to see Pavlich bounce back with a 100+ game along with Cox & Ablett continuing their top form.

why do blokes have to get injured in the first quarter?? in the last two weeks across DT and SC i have lost Kosi, Skipworth, Hille, Harvey, Didak and C.Johnson as well as having Aker and P.Burgoyne suspended. was happy to score 1900 as i only had 20 scoring players. have kept Simmonds and got some value picks for both Harvey and Johnson (who i was keen to move on anyway) managed to pick up Paddy Ryder who should pick his average up in the absence of Hille, and Jordan Lewis who was great value considering he is averaging over 100 points from his 2 games.

i started a second SC under my wife’s e-mail in week 2 and managed to come 8000 out of 311,000 for the week, so was pumped with that.

    Jermayn Reply:

I am so lucky I swapped Hille hey? Otherwise I would be in same boat as you and anyone else who had Hille, Skipworth was not as bad as he already had 50+ points unlike Hille who had next to nothing.

1900 odd with only 20 scoring players is good, how’d you manage that?

  3. deano Says:

was closer to 1850, had 12 blokes score 80+ as well as big games from skipper Ablett, Riewoldt, Fisher and Higgins. Hoping that Ryder and Lewis can push me into the 2000+ consistently. Really need a good run with injuries now as my trades are getting closer and closer to single figures. Guys like Mackie and Kel Moore are starting to score for me whilst Selwood, Riewoldt and Davey have had a solid couple of weeks. Have learnt a hard lesson that guys like Houlihan, Davey and Scott Thompson are better for your side then guys like Lucas, Cloke and Hale who whilst they can turn on a big game, they can also get shut right out. i think next year i’ll be staying away from KPP’s all together.

    Jermayn Reply:

Yeh I am thinking I need to upgrade from Ebert/ Masten/ Yarren to maybe someone like Lewis (Wonder what his price is at the moment) or even Moss/ Tuck who should be cheaper.
