Round Wrap up: NAB Semi-finals

Posted on 03 March 2008 by

All the preliminary games have been finished with Adelaide joining St Kilda to play off in the Grand Final. The semi final games were of a high quality and hopefully this grand final will be of a similar quality. The other NAB Challenge games also threw up some interesting results and while it is still pre season its obvious who will struggle and who will challenge Geelong for the Grand Final.Brett Burton Flies up high during their win against Hawthorn

We also saw a super mark from Brett Burton. I know we are all used to seeing him take these marks, but I never tire from seeing these.

Round Wrap up of NAB Semi Finals

St Kilda beat Essendon by 3 points.
St Kilda really dominated in the midfield and Essendon were lucky to be as close as they were, they gave away way too many free kicks in the middle and on a small ground like Telstra Dome, it hurts.

Davey really needs to get some legs into him as he was really dangerous and almost stole the game but run out of steam. Armitage for the Saints really looked good and will add depth, they will be dangerous this year.

Adelaide beat Hawthorn by 23 points.
The difference between Adelaide last year and this year is not a new forward line but rather how they move the ball. Last year they were SUPER slow moving the ball into the scoring area but this pre season they have moved it fast and it gives their forward line a better opportunity to score. Can you imagine how good the Hawks will be when Buddy plays like his last quarter for a whole game?

Round Wrap up of NAB Challenge games

  • Richmond beat Sydney by 25 points – Richmond may be a riser this year, their form is reasonable and if injuries stay minimal may challenge for the eight. Sydney are looking old and slow
  • Bulldogs beat Melbourne by 30 points – Bulldogs will always be a smoky with their pace and will Melbourne improve from last year? I think not.
  • West Coast beat Carlton by 41 points – Ok no Judd but is saying Carlton will play finals a little too optimistic?
  • Geelong beat Brisbane by 40 points – Geelong are playing awesome and their second string players are getting good game time and baring major injuries would be my early favourite for the flag.
  • Port Adelaide beat Collingwood by 35 points – Collingwood are playing rubbish at the moment, I know its only pre season but you want to play half descent.
  • Kangaroos beat Fremantle by 37 points – Remember this was at Subiaco, Fremantle did rest stars but they are struggling.
