The AFL’s official All Australian team has been announced after you the fan helped selected the Kick2Kick’s All Australian team. As discussed in the previous articles, our team is wholly based on what position they play, unlike the AFL’s where they selected Dane Swan on a half forward flank.

Nick Riewoldt was named at CHF and captain for the 2009 AFL All Australian team.
To refresh your memory, the Kick2Kick team is:
B: Rhyce Shaw(Sydney), Matthew Scarlet (Geelong), Chris Tarrant (Fremantle),
HB: Corey Enright (Geelong), Brian Lake (Western Bulldogs), Brendon Goddard (St Kilda)
C: Adam Goodes (Sydney), Joel Selwood (Geelong), Leigh Montagna (St Kilda)
HF: Alan Didak (Collingwood), Nick Riewoldt (St Kilda), Leon Davis (Collingwood)
F: Mark LeCras (West Coast Eagles), Brendon Fevola (Carlton), Brad Johnson (Western Bulldogs)
Foll: Aaron Sandilands (Fremantle), Chris Judd (Carlton), Gary Ablett Jnr (Geelong)
I/C: Darren Jolly (Sydney), Sam Mitchell (Hawthorn), Dane Swan (Collingwood), Jason Porplyzia (Adelaide)
and the AFL’s All Australian team is:
B: Corey Enright (Geel), Matthew Scarlett (Geel), Brian Lake (WB)
HB: Simon Goodwin (Adel), Craig Bolton (Syd), Nick Maxwell (Coll)
C: Leigh Montagna (StK), Lenny Hayes (StK), Joel Selwood (Geel)
HF: Paul Chapman (Geel), Nick Riewoldt (StK), Dane Swan (Coll)
F: Leon Davis (Coll), Brendan Fevola (Carl), Jonathan Brown (BL)
Foll: Aaron Sandilands (Fre), Chris Judd (Carl), Gary Ablett (Geel)
I/C: Matthew Boyd (WB), Nick Dal Santo (StK), Brendon Goddard (StK), Adam Goodes (Syd)
In comparing the teams I think honestly the Kick2Kick probably stuffed up on not including Simon Goodwin, Craig Bolton and Jonathan Brown but the rest…. There is 7 players that we did not select:
- Craig Bolton,
- Nick Maxwell,
- Lenny Hayes,
- Paul Chapman,
- Jonathan Brown,
- Mathew Boyd and
- Nick Dal Santo
Your opinion on the All Australian’s teams
Which team do you think is a better team? What would you change on either side and do you think that some players get selected when they should not. Like for example Paul Chapman who missed 5 games in the regular season and Chris Judd selected as Vice Captain when maybe Jonathan Brown should have been instead? He was a better more inspiring captain imo.

St Nick is the best captain this year…not so sure Dal Santa deserved a gurnsey….
and good to see no Eagles selected…

I am not impressed that LeCras did not get a guernsey, he was the best small/ medium forward of the competition and Davis only played his best football when playing in the midfield and I also think LeCras was more consistent than him.
Surprised to see Mackie not getting a spot either, he had more impressive stats than Goodwin.

Haha good one Mark E.
Yeah I think its fairly obvious that the AFL’s team year in year out doesn’t reward the best players in their preferred positions and would rather squeeze as many quality midfielders in as possible.
But with these things theres always going to be some that could of been included and missed out.

As much as I am enjoying the Eagles whinging….I do think Le Cras deserved a spot well and truly in front of Davis.
