Umpires put the book away

Posted on 15 August 2011 by

In watching the Chris Tarrent and Justin Koschitzke incident it makes me ask why do the umpires have to report players during the game?

Its time for Umpires to forget reporting players during the game.

These days the Match Review Panel (MRP) reviews and criticizes every game and incident many times over that the stupid umpire does not need to report a player on the day. If the umpire forgets trying to take attention away from the game it allows foresight to happen which always is a good thing especially in the Chris Tarrent and Justin Koschitzke incident.

Obvious whacks like Campbell Brown against the Dogs earlier in the year will still be cited by the MRP but it allows obvious idiotic decisions not to happen. So umpires put the book away! It is such an old outdated method and with the amount of camera angels it is not needed – what do you think?
