you see the thing is, in 2007 the Dogs finished bottom four and had a massive amount of goals kicked on them and Lake managed to win the best and fairest and had a super season, last season our ruck division, midfield pressure and backline improved so he had more help then he has ever had. the time has come for him to be switched on from the first minute, be the leader of the backline and turn himself into an All Australian full back which he is more then capable of.

Yes he does need improvement but not drastic imporvement like i previoulsy stated. but it is true that when players around you are not consistently there or aren't helping out as much it makes it difficult to stay focused. i know for a fact, having been a defneder for 10 years, that when a team-mate isn't staying on his man, it unsettles you especially when that player is getting free alot and you have to cover him as well as your own player, yes he does get caught napping alot but he also does a fantastic job at one on ones and pack contests.

lake was best and fairest in '07 and didn't make top 10 in '08. he needs to improve. he could be AA full back if he stayed switched on but he gets caught napping too much and it has nothing to do with the help around him.

@SunCity_Royal - Lake and Morris just need to accept their defensive roles, you really only need two key defenders and the doggies have them in Lake and Morris. I do think Morris can be exposed too much by his size though.

btw good to see an old reader coming back for the new season SunCity_Royal...
