Geelong defeated Bulldogs by 29 points

Geelong did enough to beat the dogged Doggies. I am a little surprised to not see more aggressive behaviour about the last quarter incident which saw Max Rooke take his eyes of the ball and cannon into Brad Johnson which saw the Cats get a goal and seal the match. While it would have been a free kick in every other game, it was NOT the reason the Dogs lost. Quite simply only kicking 3 goals in 3 quarters of a game is just not good enough.

Good to see the Dogs looking to get a tall forward but N Thompson IS NOT the answer, I see another J Rawlings (Hawks reject) situation hear. They should do a Geelong and draft a forward line starting from kids as recruiting from other clubs rarely is the answer. Welsh and Hudson both failed and Cooney injury or not would want another chance at finals as he stunk in his 3 games.

Geelong really has only one problem and that is who misses out if Chapman is fit? Good to see Varcoe getting the node by the coach but expect either Kelly, Wojcinski or Kick2Kick writer look alike Stokes to get a call from the coach.

Crawford kicked a great goal and now gets his chance to play in a Grand Final

Hawthorn defeated ST Kilda by 54 points

The Saints tried hard but they just did not have the even 22 good players and so expect St Kilda to get rid of a few passengers this year in M Gardiner, Harvey & Gehrig (both retired), X Clarke, Baker, Fiora and Kosi who could provide some good trade options for Sydney or the Dogs.

Riewoldt again was disappointing with him only marking the ball on his chest which is a gift to any defender as its so much easier to defend against. Smarten up Riewoldt!

The Hawks will have a few worries with Williams high bump (surely he wont get sighted) and Hodges bruised lung (Why did not more Saints players knock him around? Soft!) but expect both of them to play and star. While it was sad to see R Harvey bow out without another shot at a GF, it was good to see Crawford get a chance, Harvey did get a chance in 1997.

So now we can await the grand final that we ALL knew would happen back months ago. Friday am, all Kick2Kick writers will preview the big game.

Let me just say, thank god the Grand Final is finally here. As you said, we all knew it would happen, and the last third or so of the season has just seemed to amble on, marred by average games featuring average teams.

Finally, we’re going to get a cracking game with two top quality teams, and I can’t wait.

Totally agree, come of the games this year were very poor and average including the finals. I would say that this final series SO FAR has been one of the poorer ones I can remember.
